(KGTV) - An Uber driver says she was physically assaulted by a passenger Sunday night in La Mesa after a dispute over a mask."This is definitely the most insane experience driving with Uber that I've ever had," said Tia.Just past 6 p.m. Sunday, Tia, who first started driving for Uber last summer, arrived for a pickup outside the Echo Pointe apartments.Tia says a man and the passenger's sister ushered the passenger into the car with a warning for Tia: the passenger was drunk."She didn't have a mask on ... so I asked her if she could please put on a spare mask, which I had in the back seat. Took her awhile to put it on, but she did," said Tia.As the ride got started, Tia says her passenger wouldn't let it go."She said in a very snarky tone, 'Are you more comfortable now that I have a mask on?' She was very drunk, very belligerent, yelling," said Tia.Tia say she decided to end the ride."I was fed up with the disrespect," said Tia.Tia says she returned to the pickup spot and asked her to get out repeatedly, but the woman refused. Tia recorded some of it on her phone. Tia, who eventually called 911, says when she got out of the car and reached in to remove the woman's belongings, the passenger grabbed her neck from behind.According to Tia, the passenger became violent, chasing her around the car for several minutes, at one point hitting in the right eye. Tia says the passenger's sister and the man came out and subdued the woman, allowing Tia to drive away, and meet police and file a report."I was dumbfounded. I couldn’t believe I was assaulted for essentially wearing a mask ... People need to treat each other with respect. Wear a mask ... We're just trying to keep everybody safe," said Tia.Tia says she's still feeling pain in her eye but she's feeling better. She's hoping an arrest is made so a message is sent: this behavior is not acceptable.A La Mesa Police spokesperson says they are awaiting the report to be turned in by the officer before it is assigned to an investigator. 2030

LINCOLN PARK (KGTV) - Women received free mammograms in Lincoln Park on Sunday.Doctors use a mammogram to look for early signs of breast cancer. The free screenings were available because of Susan G. Komen San Diego. The non-profit parked a mobile screening center in front of City of Hope International Church on Holly Drive. More than two dozen women received mammograms. "It's very important for women to get mammograms because early detection is the best protection, and when breast cancer is caught in its early stage, it's basically 99% treatable," said Wendy Shurelds with Susan G. Komen San Diego.Sunday's screening is one of many. The next screening will be Friday, October 26th at Northgate Market on University Avenue. 767

Liliana Gallegos says she could not breathe and had chest pains when she was infected with the novel coronavirus.“Back then, even myself, I wasn’t masking up,” Liliana Gallegos said. “I was like, ‘it’s not that serious. It was like a cold or flu.’”It was far from a cold or flu. Gallegos was diagnosed with COVID-19 in April, and she wasn’t the only one in her household. Her 63-year-old father and her children also got infected. Later, her fiancé got sick.“He passed it on, and all his co-workers caught COVID. (KGTV) — A family is grief stricken after their elderly mother's wedding ring vanished last weekend.Daughter Leanne Farrell said she took her dad to urgent care Friday and then went to work. A nurse who cares for her parents noticed Saturday the ring was missing."There were about 4 people in and out [when] the ring disappeared and it wasn't easy to get off," she said.She doesn't believe her mother lost her ring. She said it's been on her hand for 61 years, only removed from her finger for a repair or the rare cleaning.She said they tore the house apart searching for the ring and found nothing."I can't be here 24/7 for them you know? Because I have to work and you hope the people that come in to care for them, care for them like you would," she said wiping away tears.The ring went missing just a day after her parent's 61st wedding anniversary. Her father, Ken Clody's, leg was amputated after a fall two years ago and recently had to change the hours caregivers come and go to ensure he and his wife are taken care of. He also suffers Primary Lateral Sclerosis, making it hard to communicate.Farrell explained her mother has dementia and sleeps most of the day, "she can't explain anything, she can't explain who took it, when they took it, because you can see she's not with us really much anymore."Her father said he bought the ring for 0, in 1957.Farrell described the ring as two white gold bands soldered together with three diamonds, the center just larger than the others. Farrell said it's not the price they're upset by, but the sentimental value."Oh I just hope they put it in an envelope and mail it back, the money doesn't matter just the ring," she said crying.The San Diego County Sheriff's Department is investigating the loss. They have a detective on the case interviewing the caregivers who were in the home at the time the ring went missing. 10News spoke with the care-giving company who said they interviewed their employees and said those employees hadn't seen the ring.10News did not name the company as law enforcement said they are not suspected of any wrongdoing. Clody said via email several other items went missing during the same time period, but that they were easily replaceable. The health care company called 10News late Thursday saying a couple of their employees said Mrs. Clody would take the ring off and play with it and leave it places. 2414
