TAMPA, Fla. — University of South Florida Professor Dr. Jay Wolfson and health experts around the world are studying the latest research project on the coronavirus."This thing gives us surprises almost every week. We learn something new, and it's usually unpleasant every week," said Wolfson. The new research is from Australia's National Science Agency, and it found the virus could survive and remain infectious on surfaces like glass, steel, and paper for up to 28 days."What they are concerned about, what we are all concerned about it, is if you have some viable virus on your fingers and you touch your eyes or you touch your nose or you touch your friend's eyes or nose, there's a greater risk of it being brought into the body if there's enough of it there," said Wolfson. But Dr. Thomas Unnasch, also with USF Health, says this study was done with perfect conditions for a virus to thrive."They put the virus under different surfaces and then preserve them in the dark at ideal temperatures and humidity. So it's not too surprising that under those ideal conditions, that it would last quite a bit longer than it would under normal conditions."While experts agree COVID-19 primarily spreads from person to person through droplets in the air, there is still more to understand about how it can transfer from objects or surfaces to people."People do have a proclivity to touch their face and their eyes, so if you are in a place that's not familiar to you and you are using things that are unfamiliar to you, just be careful," said Wolfson."Your own cell phone, if you are the only one using it, that's not a big deal. But door handles, faucet handles elevator buttons things like that. Wash your hands after you do that. That's a really good idea," said Unnasch. All of the experiments in this study were done in the dark. Research has shown direct sunlight can kill the virus. This story was first reported by Erik Waxler at WFTS in Tampa Bay, Florida. 1965

TAMPA, Fla. - A "Back the Blue" mural was painted outside the Tampa Police Department headquarters over the weekend. On Saturday, about 40 people came together and painted the mural on East Madison Street in downtown Tampa. The mural was created to show support for law enforcement."When they walk into the police department or when they go to work or they're patrolling the streets, they see that mural and they know they have a community behind them," said Cassandra Kistler.Kelli Campbell and Cassandra Kistler are members of Back the Blue Florida. The ladies helped organize the project.People from Community Patriots of Tampa also helped paint the mural."We had people just walking by that were inspired to pick up a brush and a roller and start helping us," said Campbell. Some people on social media are criticizing the mural or showing their support."We've been criticized a lot like it's not the best, it's not this, it's not that. It's community and community did it and brought it together and made it happen," said Cassandra Kistler.A Change.org petition said, "This mural seems to mock the Black Lives Matter movement and is a huge slap in the face for all the protesting we have been doing all over this country.""Everybody's entitled to voice their opinions and voice what they want," said Kistler."This has nothing to do with race. This is not against anyone. It's not to counter anyone. This is 100% showing support for law enforcement, all branches and truly all first responders," said Campbell.A City of Tampa spokesperson said the mural was not approved by the city.“Any tribute to honor their service is welcome. It’s unfortunate they didn’t see the permitting process through so that our community could participate in showing their appreciation for the brave men and women that service our residents every day," said Mayor Jane Castor.Kistler claims the group got verbal approval from Mayor Castor's office. This article was written by Julie Salomone for WFTS. 1989

Taylor Swift is back in the global spotlight after the release of her highly-anticipated new album “Reputation” and has one question for her fans, “Are You Ready for It?”.Swift announced the first 27 dates of her world tour “Reputation”, named after the new album, on Monday morning. It comes on the heels of her appearance on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend where she performed two songs of her latest studio project, “...Ready for It” and a stripped-down acoustic version of “Call It Want You Want”.The stadium tour focuses on larger venues, mainly NFL stadiums, and kicks off in May.The “Look What You Made Me Do” singer is excepted to bring back her “1989 World Tour” producer Louis Messina.Messina is no stranger to finding success with stadium tours as he also works with country superstar Kenny Chesney who is making stops in 17 NFL markets for his 2018 “Trip Around The Sun” tour.Tickets for Swift’s new tour go on sale to the general public on the singer's birthday, Wednesday, December 13.Some fans will have a chance to grab tickets early through the new Ticketmaster Verified Fan program. It will be a test for the new method of buying tickets, which rewards fans for participating in artist activities like engaging with them on social media or buying merchandise. The program faced some early backlash as some fans saw it as creating an additional expense to get the same tickets. However, ticket promoters insist it is a new layer of screening to keep the tickets in the hands of actual fans and away from scalpers.More tour dates, including international stops in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, are expected to be announced at a later time.Reputation World Tour Dates: May 8    Glendale, AZ     University of Phoenix Stadium 1809
