MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Attorneys for four former Minneapolis officers charged in the death of George Floyd say that each client should get his own trial, as the officers try to diminish their roles in the Black man’s death by pointing fingers at one another. A hearing is scheduled for Friday to address several issues, including whether there will be a joint trial in the case. Other issues that will be argued include defense requests to move the trial away from Minneapolis. Floyd, who was Black, died May 25 after Derek Chauvin pressed his knee against Floyd’s neck. MORGAN HILL, Calif. -- Authorities are investigating what exactly caused a plane to land on the freeway in the Bay Area Sunday morning, according to The Mercury News. The plane landed on Highway 101 near Morgan Hill around 11 a.m. The plane blocked one lane of the highway before authorities were able to tow it away.The Federal Aviation Administration said engine failure caused the emergency landing.Only the pilot was onboard and was uninjured, authorities confirmed. Mondelez International, the parent company of Nabisco, has redesigned its packaging of "Barnum's Animals" crackers after being pressured by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.The group called for the redesign by Mondelez because it protests the use of animals in circuses, and the animal crackers boxes showed animals in cages, the Associated Press reports.The crackers were once named for the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey circus, but it folded for good after 146 years. It had removed elephants from its shows because of pressure from PETA, the AP says.The animal crackers boxes now show animals wandering side-by-side in the grass and include trees. 699

NATIONAL CITY (KGTV) - National City mayor Ron Morrison is asking voters to change term limit rules to allow him to run for a fourth term in November.Morrison supports Measure B in next month's June 5 special election. Measure B would establish term limits for the mayor, city council, city clerk, and city treasurer. Officials could serve up to two four-year terms. However, it would essentially reset the clock, allowing Morrison to run in 2018 and 2022."If they want to keep the people in office that are in right now, whether it's the mayor, councilpeople, city clerk, city treasurer, they should have that right to be able to do that," Morrison said in an interview with 10News.National City voters passed Measure T in 2004, which imposed term limits only on the mayoral position, allowing three terms. Morrison was first elected Mayor in 2006.Opponents have put their own measure on the June ballot, Measure C. It would establish the same term limits, but count Morrison's time as mayor, meaning he could not run again.City councilmember Alejandra Soleto-Solis, who is running for mayor, supports Measure C, telling 10News it's time for new blood in the mayor's office. (KGTV) — A teenager is dead after police found him suffering from a gunshot wound in a South Bay alley early Friday.The 17-year-old male was found in the west alley of 1900 C Avenue with a gunshot wound just before 1:30 a.m., according to National City Police Department.Firefighters and first responders arrived at the scene to perform life-saving measures, but the teen died at the scene.
