(KGTV) -- Police are asking for the public’s help after they say several suspects stole credit cards and used them to go shopping at Macy’s.Police say a house on the 400 block of Vista Way was burglarized on January 10. CHULA VISTA (KGTV) -- Laurence and Cherryl Lector's two small children were eager to show off their costumes and hit up their neighborhood for sweets. But the couple didn't want to abandon their home on Baywood Circle in Chula Vista and disappoint the several trick-or-treaters likely to stop by for confectionery.So, the couple filled a large candy bowl hoping their security camera -- fixed visibly in their porch -- would keep visitors honest.  The family then set off on their haunts.The Lectors phones were buzzing with video alerts showing little ghosts and ghouls digging through the self-serve candy bowl and respecting the Halloween honor system.Then they received a video showing an esurient group of older kids, and one small girl, emptying out the dish into their bags."I was devastated someone could just get all the candy and ruin the night [for other trick-or-treaters]," said Laurence Lector.One of the kids noticed the camera and even pointed it out to someone else in the group, but the kids continued to snatch all of the treats until every sweet was gone."We were disappointed that those that came afterward came to an empty bowl," Cherryl Castro-Lector told said.About an hour later, they received a video from their camera that warmed their hearts.The video shows a girl and boy investigating the empty bowl.  They must've known that the night wasn't over for other little trick-or-treaters. So, the group took turns emptying their own their treats into the bowl, starting with their mom."I got a little teary eyed.  Gosh, I hope my kids are like that someday," Castro-Lector said. "I would have hugged those little kids and mom if I were there."The Lectors are eager to find these children and their parents to say thanks.  "I would love to meet them and thank them for being so kind. CHULA VISTA (CNS) - Police Friday raided an illegal South Bay marijuana dispensary and made six arrests.According to the Chula Vista Police Department, officers served a search warrant at 9 a.m. on the black market dispensary at 259 Broadway, acting on community complaints.A half-dozen people were taken into custody on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sales, conspiracy to sale marijuana and operating a marijuana dispensary without a license, according to a police statement. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - The budget issues at the Sweetwater Union High School District appear to be worse than originally predicted, and it has cost some teachers their jobs. On Monday night, the district's school board voted to cut 34 temporary teaching positions in the district's adult education program. One of the teachers losing their jobs, Dottie Giffen, told the board members at the public meeting, "You could say sorry a million times, and the mess that you got us into does not make any of us feel better."Many parents say they are fed up with the cuts and want someone to be held accountable. Giffen said of the district's leadership: "We have no faith, no trust. We want the district cleared out. We want to start over fresh."According to an audit released at the school board meeting on Dec. 3, the district is in its current financial state because of a number of issues, including internal borrowing, unsustainable salary increases, and a decline in student enrollment.The new audit was first reported by The Voice of San Diego, showing the district is borrowing money faster than it can pay back, taking money from Mello-Roos fees on people’s property taxes. This fiscal year alone the will borrow million dollars in addition to the million they already owe. Parents are now hoping the county or state will take over and balance the budget. One parent told 10News he wants the district employees out, replaced by someone with a fresh set of eyes. County education officials told 10News they are monitoring the situation and issued this statement:“The San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) continues to monitor and work with the Sweetwater Union High School District to resolve the district’s 2018-19 budget shortfalls. Ensuring the students of Sweetwater Union High School District are supported and provided every opportunity to succeed is the highest priority of the district and SDCOE.”The district also sent 10News a statement reacting to the audit:“Over the past few months the Sweetwater Union High School District has faced very significant challenges with respect to our organizational budget. As we have previously outlined, several factors such as increased costs to the district and decreased enrollment and attendance have placed us in a very difficult position.However, Sweetwater, like many other districts across the state, has endured challenges like this in the past. We have worked diligently to stabilize our budget and taken measures to do so. There is still much work to be done, but ultimately we are confident that by working with our internal and external partners, we can move forward in a positive manner to best serve the students and families of our district.” 2733

CHULA VISTA (KGTV) -- Chula Vista police investigators are searching for clues in the fatal shooting of a 52-year-old man early Saturday morning.Officers responded to a report of gunshots at around 5:08 a.m. in the 900 block of Agua Tibia Avenue, a few blocks west of Cook Elementary School.A witness led officers to a residence where gunshots were believed to have originated, according to CVPD Lt. Dan Peak.Peak said when officers entered the home, they discovered the victim on the ground with a gunshot wound."Officers attempted life saving measures on the subject and despite resuscitation efforts, he was pronounced deceased at the scene," said Peak.The victim has been identified as Dean Tinsley. No further information about the victim was released.Peak said there is no known motive for the slaying at this time.
