The average person only gains two pounds during the holidays, according to a study published in Psychology and Behavior.  But if that two pounds scare you, how can you avoid it?When tomorrow comes, and you're faced with an abundance of food, Brenzels says to grab the smallest plate.   “If you grab the bigger plate, you tend to fill it up completely,” he says. “You grab the smaller plate, you fill it up, that's still a quarter of the portions you would eat."  When it comes to leftovers, give it away.   "A lot of people are eating all the leftovers,” Brenzels says. “Send the leftovers home with people in small increments. Set yourself up for success."  And once Friday morning rolls around, make sure you get back at it.   "Still wake up, even if it's a walk, get up,” the trainer recommends. “Get moving, get that metabolism going. Get that workout in in the morning, and then its right back to normal."  Whatever you do, Brenzel says, don't wait till the New Year to make your resolution to get fit.  "Make your resolution right now,” he says. “Friday. Which makes Westlake High School, home of multiple championships and the alma mater of a former NFL MVP, royalty.Now, this powerhouse program in the Atlanta area is facing an invisible opponent: COVID-19.“It’s completely changed the way we operate,” said Lions head coach Bobby May.May is following the Georgia High School Association’s ever-changing game plan. Which will hopefully get his team on the field and playing underneath the lights come fall.“Before they workout, we take their temperatures,” May said of his student athletes. “Right now, we are limited to groups of 20, including coaches.”Those coaches are required to wear masks and those groups of players are split up by positions -- and won’t interact in the weight room or on the field.“At least the quarterbacks and receivers can be together,” said Lions receiver Leo Blackburn. Blackburn has earned a scholarship to play football at nearby Georgia Institute of Technology next year.Before playing on Saturday afternoons, however, he wants to end his high school career with the guys he grew up with on Friday nights.“This football program is like a family,” he said. “It’s more than just football.”Millions of high school students play football across the country. It will cost a little less to buy Obamacare coverage in 2019.The average premium for the benchmark silver plan will decline by 1.5%, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services said Thursday.It's the first time average premiums have fallen since the Affordable Care Act exchanges opened in 2014 — but the decline comes after a 37% spike for this year's benchmark silver plan.Americans who buy those plans will save a month over this year's rate, on average, but will still be paying 5 more a month than in 2017.Premiums vary across the 39 states that use the federal exchange. A company spokesperson said Thursday the timeline of sales has yet to be determined.But Chuck Tatelbaum, a director with Tripp Scott, a Florida law firm, expects the discounts to happen pretty quickly."I think that the sales will run for up to 60 days, and the closures will have taken place by then," he said. "The rent obligation is just so high."Depending on the timeline, the sales could be modest at first. The biggest discounts will come later."They will start discounting more and more as time goes on," said Ray Wimer, assistant professor of retail practice Syracuse. "But it's a double-edged sword: The item you might want might not be there anymore, but the better deals come later in the process."He expects the discounts to start around 20-30%, but eventually climb to 75-80% off.
