A high-speed police pursuit has ended in a Phoenix neighborhood as police continue to search the area for at least one suspect.Police say they were following a possible stolen vehicle and attempted to pull the driver over Tuesday when the suspect refused to stop.Helicopter video showed the white SUV in the Biltmore area around noon, going the wrong way in traffic and driving on light rail tracks near Central Avenue and Thomas Road to avoid stoplights. Video from helicopter showed what appeared to be stop sticks deployed on the vehicle that caused a tire to blow near a neighborhood in west Phoenix. The vehicle was then seen driving through multiple front yards and sidewalks around 12:30 p.m. The occupants of the car bailed in front of a home on foot. Police say one woman, the passenger in the vehicle, was taken into custody. The male driver is still missing and believed to be hiding in the neighborhood.Police say the male suspect is believed to be responsible for at least three carjackings. During one of the carjackings Tuesday, a Phoenix police officer tried to intervene and fired shots toward the suspect. A historically active Atlantic Hurricane season is nearing a close, but there appears to be at least one more threat looming in the Caribbean Sea.Hurricane Zeta is currently churning just south of the Yucatan Peninsula with maximum sustained winds of 80 mph — and is currently projected to make landfall on the Louisiana coast later this week.The National Hurricane Center issued a hurricane watch for portions of the Louisiana and Mississippi coasts on Monday. The hurricane watch runs from Morgan City, Louisiana to the Alabama/Mississippi border. The hurricane gained hurricane status Monday afternoon after Hurricane Hunters flew through the storm. In addition to gustier winds, the Hurricane Hunters found Zeta's pressure has dropped. According to the National Hurricane Center's latest update, Zeta is projected to make landfall on the eastern part of the Louisiana coastline on Wednesday evening or early Thursday morning. At that point, officials believe the system will be "at or near hurricane strength."Zeta is the 28th named storm of 2020 — the second-most all-time in a single year. And no region has been targeted more by tropical storms this year than the Louisiana coast.The Louisiana coastline has already been targeted by four major storms this year — Cristobal, Laura, Marco and Delta. The strongest of those storms, Laura, reached category 4 status and caused extensive damage to the Lake Charles area, contributing to 17 deaths in the U.S.According to one NOAA researcher, the Louisiana coast has spent more than three whole weeks in NHC forecast cones this year, by far the most of any region. 1624

A bronze statue of the late United States Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will be unveiled in Brooklyn next year.According to a press release, the statue will permanently reside at the City Point development in downtown Brooklyn and unveiled on March 15, which would have been the late justice's 88th birthday."In her lifetime, Justice Ginsburg championed countless crucial causes. This statue is just a small reminder that we all need to set the highest possible standards for ourselves and society," Chris Conlon, EVP and Chief Operating Officer of Acadia Realty, said in the release. "From the people who work here, to the diverse shoppers and shopping at City Point, everyone feels welcome, equal, and respected. We are honored to have this great statue grace our property, and to bring Justice Ginsburg's 'path marking' spirit back to Brooklyn to inspire us for generations."Artist duo Gillie and Marc design the statue as part of their "Statues for Equality" series, which have already installed 10 sculptures of women around New York City. Ginsburg's figure is the eleventh in their series."We had the honor and privilege to create Justice Ginsburg's likeness in everlasting bronze as a part of Statues for Equality," the artist duo said. "The final statue, which she endorsed, reflects her wish to be depicted in a dignified manner." What's extraordinary about this is the length of time."The adult -- Tahlequah, or J35 as the whale has come to be known by researchers -- and corpse were last seen definitively Thursday afternoon, 17 days after the baby's birth. The female calf died after a few hours.The mother, preventing the body from sinking to the ocean floor, has been carrying it and nudging it toward the surface of the Pacific off the coast of Canada and the northwestern US.Orcas, also called killer whales, are highly social, and this pod was spotted Friday afternoon near Vancouver, British Columbia.Another struggling female in the same pod -- J50, also known as Scarlet -- was shot with antibiotics to fight an infection, since scientists worry that she has been losing a frightening amount of weight.These are grim signs. The Southern Resident population the females belong to has about 75 members, and has not had a successful birth in three years.
