ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) — For Brian Masters, the prospect of owning two vintage John Deere tractors was an easy sell."I’ve always had an interest," Masters said of the tractors. And when his friend recently approached him to buy her two 1932 and 1946 model tractors, he jumped at the chance.After purchasing the tractors in July, he displayed them in his front yard with plans to have them running by this summer.But it wasn't until this month that he was slapped with a code enforcement violation by the City of Escondido."I parked them out there in late July and all of a sudden someone complained about me," Master said. "When I tried to talk to the enforcement officer, he just said they have to be out of public view."The code violation referenced "Sec. 33-96: Prohibited primary uses and structures" of the city code. The ordinance says, "All industrial, commercial and residential uses and structures not listed in this article are prohibited."Masters said he tried to speak with an enforcement officer about taking two weeks to move the machines, but was told he needed to move the tractors immediately — a tight timeline made all the more difficult when Masters believed his antiques were welcomed."At Halloween, we had a line of people posing and taking pictures with them," Masters said. "I don’t know who is complaining ... They were the centerpieces of our yard, it’s a little front yard."Masters said he is in the process of moving the classic tractors to his backyard. But in order to do so, he says he had to hack off a tree stump, modify his fence, and take down a portion of his yard's retaining yard to give the tractors enough room to be moved.10News has reached out to the City of Escondido for possible alternatives or a solution to Masters' violation, and have yet to hear back. 1815

Facebook said Thursday that it would add a new feature in order to give new context around news stories.According to a press release, Facebook will push a notification when a user attempts to share a news article that is more than 90 days old.According to the press release, Facebook conducted research that indicated news organizations "expressed concerns about older stories being shared on social media as current news.""To ensure people have the context they need to make informed decisions about what to share on Facebook, the notification screen will appear when people click the share button on articles older than 90 days, but will allow people to continue sharing if they decide an article is still relevant," Facebook said in a statement.Facbeook's announcement came the day before a 2016 article by Scripps station WTVF in Nashville about the removal of a Billy Graham statue went viral on the platform, nearly four years after its publish date. Fed up with limited leg room onboard airline cabins?Italian seat manufacturer Aviointeriors has come up with a design that allows passengers to stretch their legs as much as they want when they travel without any extra cost.The catch? The seats are so far upright that they'll be pretty much standing up.Unveiled at the Aircraft Interiors Expo 2018 in Hamburg, the SkyRider 2.0 aims to help airlines squeeze in more passengers by allowing an "ultra-high density" and reducing the space between rows.It's a new and improved version of a design the manufacturer revealed in 2010 but failed to get off the ground.The original Skyrider, which was was not approved by the US Federal Aviation Administration, was designed in the style of a horse saddle.Aviointeriors compared the seating position to that of a horseback rider, pointing out that cowboys can sit on saddles for hours without feeling uncomfortable.Stand up idea?The revised seats have extra padding, as well as poles to connect each row from the ceiling to the cabin floor.According to Aviointeriors, the SkyRider 2.0 "ensures an increased upright passenger position, allowing installation of the seat at a reduced pitch, while maintaining an adequate comfort."While it remains to be seen whether Aviointeriors' definition of "adequate comfort" matches the average person's, the company stresses that the seats, designed for short haul flights, have many benefits."The design of this seat enables to increase the passenger number by 20% allowing increasing profits for airline companies," says a spokesperson for Aviointeriors."Furthermore, Sky Rider 2.0 weighs 50% less than standard economy class seats and the reduced number of components enable minimum maintenance costs."Will it take off?The concept of vertical seats has been floating around for nearly two decades.Airbus proposed the idea of standing room flights as early as 2003 and in 2010, Ryanair's CEO Michael O'Leary announced that he was considering introducing special standing-room only areas of his airplanes.But the airline seems to have abandoned the idea for the time being."We have no plans to trial or introduce standing flights," a spokesperson told CNN last year.While Aviointeriors has dubbed the Skyrider 2.0 "the new frontier of low cost tickets and passenger experience," aircraft specialists have pointed out various stumbling blocks ranging from potential evacuation delays due to limited space and the fact that there is no room under the seats for personal items.The innovative seat is yet to be snapped up by an airline.   2592
