One Coolidge, Arizona man did just that, and he ended up in the hospital.He was recently bitten in the face, of all places, by a rattlesnake, and this isn't the first time it's happened to 48-year-old Victor Pratt.The man used to be a snake hunter. He would catch the snakes and cook them. He was recently bitten at a child's birthday party after he spotted one and attempted to catch it, but instead the snake caught him, and caught him right on the jawline.He was knocked unconscious for five days. His swelling has gone down and he's recovering. Rattlesnakes are venomous creatures. Both venomous and non-venomous snakes can be found around Arizona.  764

YORBA LINDA, Calif. – A sheriff’s deputy in Southern California is accused of burglarizing a home that he previously responded to in reference to a death investigation.The Orange County Sheriff’s Department says Deputy Steve Hortz, a 12-year veteran with the department, responded to the Yorba Linda home on July 20 regarding a man in his 70s who died from apparent natural causes.On Wednesday, the sheriff’s department says it was contacted by an attorney representing the family estate who reported items missing from the home.The lawyer also provided home surveillance video that captured Deputy Hortz entering the home without permission on at least three separate occasions and exiting with stolen property.In the first incident, authorities say the deputy returned to the home on July 27. While in uniform, he allegedly broke into the unoccupied residence through the rear and left a short time later. It’s unclear whether a theft occurred at that time.The deputy returned to the home in the early morning on Aug. 10 and Aug. 16 while in civilian clothes and removed items, including weapon safes, ceiling fans, and cases of unknown items, according to the department.An investigation was immediately launched when the department learned of the burglaries and Hortz was arrested on Thursday. He’s been booked into jail on suspicion of burglary.Hortz was also placed on administrative leave and the department says it will investigate prior calls handled by the deputy to determine if similar unreported instances have occurred.“The suspected criminal actions of this deputy are a violation of public trust, are inexcusable and intolerable,” said Orange County Sheriff Don Barnes in a statement. “This deputy will be held accountable through a swift and thorough process including a full criminal and internal administrative investigation.” 1853

for setting an illegal trap in Missoula, Montana, that killed a young dog.Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks regional supervisor Randy Arnold says the illegal trap was set near the Clark Fork River off of Hiberta Street.A family with their dog were recreating in that area on Sunday, when their 17-month old dog was caught in the trap and died. The two men were cited with state charges; one count of failure to appropriately mark the trap and one count of an illegal ground set. Missoula Animal Control also cited the men for illegally trapping within city limits.Arnold says this was uncommon and very disappointing, saying setting illegal traps in obvious public places is something state wildlife agencies do not condone."By setting traps in a way in violation of how ground sets need to be set, puts at risk dogs and anybody recreating in the area," Arnold said. "Those regulations are in place to prevent these things from happening. YUMA, Arizona (KGTV) - Among those making the trek to to Yuma Tuesday for a presidential visit is a local man with a unique message of support."When I found out he was coming on Monday, I got the day off," said Blake Marnell.Early Tuesday morning, Marnell woke up and made the drive from San Diego to Arizona. Despite sizzling temperatures, there was no debating his wardrobe choice."I've purchased my brick suit last year to show support for border security and strong borders," said Marnell.In Yuma, just outside the Border Patrol station, Marnell stood and waited. This is Marnell's 11th time seeing President Trump in the past year or so. He just got back from the rally in Tulsa. During a rally in Pennsylvania last year, President Trump beckoned him and his border wall suit up to the stage.On Tuesday in Yuma, there would be no in person meeting, only a fleeting glance at a motorcade during a visit to mark the 200th mile of border wall construction."I think it's important to visibly support the president. All I want to do is hold up my sign as he's arriving from the airport, and to thank him for all the work he's done to keep our country safe," said Marnell.Marnell's journey to Donald Trump superfan status has been an unusual one. "And they became interested in the fact that many of our fields had some issues with safety -- especially Rancho's field -- which you know is being replaced. "We do the best we can with what we have but we can't do anything without community support," he says.The Holzhauers say they're committed to Las Vegas and want to make a difference."And I saw Darcy's article and it really put a bee in my bonnet," James' wife Melissa explains.Helping young people is the Holzhauers' passion."These are our kids that are suffering these horrible injuries," says James, "...potential brain damage from something that could be so easily prevented."Our story uncovered how the five football fields in CCSD with artificial turf are years beyond the warranty and expected life cycle.It also appears the fields were not properly maintained or safety-tested according to industry protocol. G-Max testing is critical for player health and safety. And proper maintenance protects the taxpayer's investment.Rancho Assistant Principal and Athletic Director Gabrielle Crawford closed the school's football field when tests showed it wasn't safe.Her heart goes out to the team this season. She says they've stuck together, worked hard "...and they're the ones practicing in all that equipment in 115 degrees in the summer and they don't get to use the field," Ms. Crawford says.The Rancho field is slated to be replaced for next season.In the meantime, the Holzhauers say Rancho can use the ,000 wherever it's most needed for athletics.And they challenge others to join in and help out."It's important to remember we have a lot of schools in other areas that need help. So for a call to action," says Melissa. "You don't have to pick Rancho! You can pick Rancho!. But also just any way that people can help to give back. From my understanding talking to [Darcy's producer] and Darcy there are a lot of unsafe fields throughout our community. And lots of ways that people can help.'While the Holzhauers are committed to helping youth, we're committed to accountability.Once again we asked the District for G-Max testing results and maintenance schedules for all five turf fields to try and track how things got so bad. They told us Indian Springs had one G-Max test back in 2008 when the field was installed, but then nothing for any of the schools until this year after Rancho raised alarm bells and forced action.
