LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) -- La Mesa residents will finally get the chance to talk about the protests that were followed by violence and looting in May.The La Mesa City Council is hosting a town hall for the community Thursday at 6 p.m.The town hall comes after the city picked a firm to look into how different local agencies handled the incident. LAKESIDE, Calif. (KGTV) -- A 16-year-old died following a solo-vehicle crash in Lakeside late Saturday night. According to California Highway Patrol, the crash happened on Willow Road around 10:45 p.m. Saturday. CHP says the vehicle appears to have been traveling at “a high rate of speed” when the driver lost control, veered off the road and hit a large tree. Three passengers in the vehicle also received injuries ranging from moderate to major. Monday night, friends confirmed with 10News that a second teen, with major injuries, was taken of life support and his organs were donated to help save other lives. Friends identified the teens as Justin Kyte and Isaac Culkin, both 16-years-old.According to CHP, the right front passenger, a 16-year-old boy, was taken to the hospital with major injuries. LIPAN, Texas – A man in Texas is dead after a possible mountain lion attack and officials are warning nearby residents to keep young children inside at night as they search for the animal.Around 3:30 p.m. last Thursday, deputies with the Hood County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 15000 block of Howell Rd. in Lipan in reference to a missing person call.Deputies were told Christopher Allen Whiteley, 28, was missing and last seen on Wednesday, in the early morning hours.Deputies checked a wooded area nearby and eventually found Whiteley deceased, the sheriff's office said.Preliminary findings show Whiteley died from a wild animal attack, possibly a mountain lion.The sheriff’s office has contacted a governmental trapper with the USDA, who specializes in tracking and removing mountain lions. Officers said they'll work with the trapper and Texas game wardens to locate the animal.The sheriff's office urged the Lipan community to be mindful of their surrounding and to keep their young children and animals inside at night.“The safety of Hood County citizens are my priority one, but please don’t interfere with the process of locating the animal and stay clear of the area being actively worked by officials," said Hood County Sheriff Roger Deeds.Whiteley’s body was sent to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.This story was originally published by Thalia Brionez at KXXV. 1415

Voters in San Diego County can do so at sdvote.com. Californians in other counties should visit vote.ca.gov.The deadline to register is October 19.The second thing you want to do is make a plan for how you will vote, either by mail or in-person.“Our recommendation, particularly with the pandemic, is to vote by mail in this upcoming election,” said San Diego County Registrar of Voters Michael Vu.Because of the pandemic, election officials are sending mail-in ballots to every active, registered voter in California for the first time in state history. As long as you’re registered by October 19, you’ll get one, Vu said.When you’re making your selections, “clearly mark that ballot, similar to when you’re going to a polling place with an ink pen. Black or blue is preferred,” Vu said.Once filled out, seal the ballot in the pre-paid return envelope and sign the back. Seriously.
