A Florida man was charged with murder after detectives connected him to the suspicious death of his girlfriend.The investigation began Oct. 15 when Sarasota County deputies were called to a vehicle fire along I-75 in Osprey. When deputies arrived, they found a minivan with a deceased female inside.The driver, 34-year-old Michael Clark, told deputies he didn’t know how the fire began, how the female died or how he got to Sarasota.State investigators with the Bureau of Fire and Arson Investigations determined the minivan was intentionally set on fire. They found a gas can inside the minivan and a lighter nearby.Further investigation by the Medical Examiner’s Office determined the victim’s cause of death was homicide caused by blunt force trauma.The investigation revealed that Clark drove his minivan to meet the victim at work on Oct. 14. A witness saw the two get into an argument. During which time, Clark was seen confronting the victim and the victim pushed him away. Clark then put the victim in a headlock, according to the arrest affidavit. The victim was last seen alive walking with Clark towards his minivan, her car never left the parking lot.Detectives determined Clark beat the victim to death before placing her in the back of the minivan, driving southbound along I-75, and eventually setting the vehicle on fire with the intent of destroying all evidence of his crimes. At the time of the incident, personnel seized Clark’s clothing for investigation and recovered a small amount of cocaine. He was transported to the hospital and later released while the investigation continued.On Thursday, Sarasota County detectives working in partnership with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office executed an arrest warrant and search warrant at Clark’s home.He was taken into custody and booked into the Orient Road Jail in Tampa. Sarasota County detectives charged Clark with Murder, Arson, Tampering with Evidence, and Possession of Cocaine. He remains in custody without bond.The victim was 34-year-old Kristen Kelley, Clark’s girlfriend of several years. The couple had three children in common. 2170

A chaotic scene unfolded as a massive caravan of Honduran migrants reached the Guatemala-Mexico border Friday.What appeared to be tear gas was fired as the crowd pushed towards Mexican police at the border, CNN's Bill Weir reported from the scene."There are children in this crowd. ... A couple reportedly tried to sneak into an iconic church in San Francisco to get married with dozens of their closest friends and family, and now several in the wedding party have Covid-19.The couple originally planned to marry earlier this year, and rescheduled for early July, multiple media outlets report. The couple planned to marry at Saints Peter and Paul Church, with roughly 100 invited guests.The guests were instructed to enter the church from an underground parking structure. Some of the pews were roped off, presumably to allow for social distancing.Representatives from the San Francisco City Attorney's Office were able to stop many of the guests from going inside the church after spotting them, and told them the event had to be held outside. San Francisco’s coronavirus health guidelines allow up to 12 people to gather outdoors if there's no food or drink.After being told to hold the ceremony outside, a large group moved to a nearby basketball court for the ceremony. A Florida business owner can continue to fly the flags of the branches of the military after an employee's Facebook live video prompted an ordinance review by city officials.On Monday afternoon, the store manager for Jaguar Power Sports — a motorcycle dealership in Jacksonville — went live on the dealership's Facebook page and claimed a city official with the Regulatory and Compliance Department had cited the business for flying flags of the various branches of the military. The employee claimed that the business was cited for each flag on top of the building."These flags that are flying overhead should not be a problem," said the employee, identifying himself only as Shaun. "... There’s one thing I’m not going to tolerate and that is disrespect for our military in a military town. We should not get cited or ticketed for flying flags representing our country.”The employee also claims the city official who cited the dealership also told a customer in the store at the time — a military veteran — that the customer had done "nothing for our country."Jaguar Power Sports' video has since been shared nearly 250,000 times and received more than 5 million views as of 11 a.m. ET on Tuesday.Regulatory and Compliance Department Chief of Staff Brian Hughes told the Jacksonville Times Union said that Jaguar Power Sports had been issued a warning and had not been fined.
