SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Three men were arrested in Tijuana for the brutal murder of three teens in Mexico, including two from San Diego. The three suspects, identified only as Fabricio, Esteban Manuel and Alejandro were arrested at an unknown time, authorities in Mexico say. 17-year-old Christopher Alexis Gomez and 18-year-old Juan Suarez Ojeda were found shot to death in Tijuana on November 25. Both teenagers attended O'Farrell Charter School in Encanto. Another teen believed to be Ojeda’s friend was also killed. Garcia said her cousin planned to head to a barbecue in Ensenada on Friday. Investigators believe all three teenagers were taken from an apartment complex at gunpoint before being killed. It’s still unknown why the teens may have been targeted. Gomez's family sent 10News the following statement: “As a family we are very conflicted by the events and are still hurting, we miss him dearly and just feel a bit of comfort to know that the people responsible have been caught and that our sweet Alex is getting a bit of justice.”A GoFundMe page was set up to help Gomez’s and Suarez-Ojeda’s families with funeral costs and expenses.According to reports, murders in Tijuana hit a record number in 2018, topping out at more than 2,000. 1476

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Thousands march along San Diego Bay in support of a variety of social issues Saturday.The fourth annual Women's March began at 10 a.m. at Waterfront Park, near the County Administration building at 1600 Pacific Highway. The rally focused on reproductive, disability and LGBTQ rights, and environmental justice issues, according to the march's website.Women's March San Diego aims to "harness the political power of diverse women and their communities to create transformative social change." The first Women's March was held in 2017, the day after President Donald Trump was sworn into office. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego State University Police Department, along with its allied agencies, is stepping up patrols after a string of robberies.Students and non-students have been targeted in recent weeks on and off-campus.At 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, three students were robbed by at least two people. Their phones and a set of keys were stolen.On Monday, just before 7 p.m., another person was robbed while walking along the sidewalk near Lindo Paseo and College Avenue. Police say two suspects pushed the victim down and stole their phone.“Avoid distraction and stay alert, if they see suspicious activity call us right away," said Raquel Herriott, Community and Media Relations Specialist with the SDSU Police Department.Students have also been targeted through the Offer Up app which connects buyers and sellers to household items.Police are looking for a suspect in the Offer Up cases, named Anthony Joseph Green. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The Port of San Diego announced Wednesday they've selected a developer for a new pod hotel concept near San Diego Bay.STAY OPEN was chosen to develop and operate the new low-cost, pod-style hotel concept that would be located on Pacific Highway between the Port's administration building and Palm Street.The concept envisions 33 rooms with eight to 12 pods per room. Each pod would include a single-occupancy bed, storage locker, power supply, ventilation control, privacy screen, and free Wi-Fi. Rooms would share one bathroom with shower facilities. And space on the hotel's rooftop would be reserved for a restaurant, bar, and outdoor seating open to the public.An exact price for an overnight stay in a pod was not released, but STAY OPEN partner JUCY Snooze offers the pod rentals in New Zealand starting at about per night.The goal behind to concept is to offer an inexpensive for travelers, similar to a hostel. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The world's only two platypuses to live outside of Australia now call the San Diego Zoo Safari Park home.The zoo recently received the two platypuses — a male named Birrarung that hatched in 2011 and female named Eve that hatched in 2004 — from Taronga Zoo Sydney.
