Adam Levine is not giving up a great deal about reports that Maroon 5 will be performing at the next Super Bowl halftime show."I'm still formulating a lot of things," he told Variety in a recent interview.Reaction had been mixed to early reports the group would headline the halftime show. The NFL has not officially confirmed the entertainment lineup for the next Super Bowl."It's a Super Bowl tradition to speculate about the performers for the Pepsi Halftime Show," a league rep said in a statement earlier this fall. "We are continuing to work with (longtime sponsor) Pepsi on our plans but do not have any announcements to make on what will be another epic show."Levine was more open with the publication about getting superstar rapper Cardi B to record a verse on the hit Maroon 5 single, "Girls Like You.""I told Cardi, 'I want you to put something down that shows your fierceness as a woman and say it however you want,'" Levine said. "I knew she was going to murder this verse and bring the song to a whole new place. She was vital. I begged her to do it." 1077
After President Donald Trump announced early Friday morning that he tested positive for COVID-19, many are wondering what happens if a president becomes incapacitated.White House Physician Dr. Sean Conley said in a memo that the president and First Lady Melania Trump "are both well at this time," but did not say whether they were experiencing symptoms of the virus.Trump, who is 74 years old, meets several categories that science found makes COVID-19 symptoms worse — his age, his gender, and his weight. The president is technically obese through his body-mass index. The 25th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which was adopted on Feb. 10, 1967, deals with the issues of presidential succession and who runs the country if the president is incapacitated.Section 3 of the 25th Amendment allows the president to submit, in writing, that he is not able to discharge the powers of the office. In that case, the president will voluntarily transfer the authority to the vice president, but the VP does not become president and the president remains in office.Section 3 was invoked under President Ronald Reagan when he underwent a colonoscopy, and twice under President George W. Bush when he underwent colonoscopies. In the case of Trump, he could voluntarily transfer power to Vice President Mike Pence if he believes it is necessary.Section 4 also gives the president's Cabinet the ability to strip him of power if the Cabinet believes he has become incapacitated. This Section has not been invoked. In this case, the Vice President would assume the powers of the office and become the Acting President."Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President," Section 4 reads. This story was originally published by Max White on WXYZ in Detroit. 2164
After three full days of deliberations, the jury in the trial of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort still has not returned a verdict.Jurors will return Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. ET.Manafort is charged with 18 counts of tax evasion, bank fraud and hiding foreign bank accounts in the first case brought to trial by special counsel Robert Mueller as part of the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 US election. He has pleaded not guilty to all the charges.Judge T.S. Ellis and both teams of lawyers met twice met Monday morning in private. The conversations lasted about 10 minutes each, and Ellis said transcripts will be made public at the end of the trial. The trial carries major implications for the future of Mueller's investigation. Trump has repeatedly called the probe a "witch hunt" that hasn't found evidence of Russian collusion with his campaign, and his allies in and out of the White House say the special counsel should wrap things up. 977
A Wisconsin bank is paying customers a bonus for turning over change as there a national coin shortage. The Community State Bank is paying out for every 0 in coins turned over to the bank. The coin buyback program is open to those who do not have an account with the bank.“We are certainly encountering crazy times,” said Assistant Vice President, Retail Operations Director, Katie Stolp. “Our goal from this program is to provide local business owners with the funds and tools they need to run their business. Many other financial institutions charge up to 10% of the value for coin counting. We’re not only waiving that charge, but paying community members to bring us their coin.”According to the Federal Reserve, the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the supply of coins. The pandemic, it says, has caused circulation of coins to drop. The Federal Reserve said it has implemented a temporary cap on the orders banks place for coins with the Federal Reserve to ensure that the current supply is fairly distributed. The coin shortage has prompted major retailers to no longer be able to return exact change to customers amid the shortage. 1149
