BEIJING, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Tropical storm "Dianmu" along with gusty winds will strengthen precipitation in north China as it moves north, the national meteorological agency warned on Monday.The typhoon, started Sunday night in the sea about 400 kilometers east of Taiwan, is expected to complicate flood-control efforts in northeast China, where torrential rain-triggered floods have left more than 100 people dead and missing.Heavy rains will hit parts of northeast China's Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces on Tuesday. Northwest China's Gansu and Shaanxi provinces will also be affected, said the National Meteorological Center.The typhoon, the fourth this year, was moving northeast at a speed of 25 km per hour. BEIJING, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- The Ministry of Public Security Sunday launched an emergency response to organize rescue work for landslide-hit Zhouqu County, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in northwestern Gansu Province.The ministry has organized about 1,000 fire fighters and special police in nearby areas to head for the affected region, according to a statement on the ministry's website.As the roads had been hit by the landslides, the police rescuers were heading towards the affected areas on motorbikes, according to the statement. BEIJING, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Reasserting its determination to crush gang crimes, China's Ministry of Public Security released a list of 52 major cases of gang crimes across the country and said it would supervise the handling of these cases in a circular issued on Tuesday.The ministry would appoint officers to supervise and track the investigation of these cases, while at the same time providing expertise and technological support, the circular said.It specifically ordered police chiefs, in areas where the mob cases occurred, to personally lead the investigation and said they would be held accountable for the investigation.Police nationwide must strengthen cooperation with disciplined inspection and supervision departments to remove the mafia's "protective umbrellas" and root out its financial resources by confiscating all asserts related to gang crimes.This was the eighth such listing released by the ministry since a long-term national campaign to crackdown on gang crimes began in February 2006.Since then, the ministry has supervised the handling of 296 major cases of gang crimes.
