A family in Alberta returned to their car on Monday to find a giant bison licking the road salt off of their car. "As we watched, the owners of the car returned from their hike, and were trying to figure out how to get in the car very respectfully," said the unidentified videographer. A Japanese space probe has successfully fired a "bullet" into an asteroid as part of a mission to collect rock samples from the celestial body.The projectile disturbed material from the exterior of asteroid Ryugu which then floated from its surface due to the weak gravitational field.These particles were successfully collected by the probe, according to Japan's space agency JAXA, which announced that the Hayabusa 2 craft had successfully touched down on on the asteroid on Friday morning Japanese time.JAXA scientists had expected to find a powdery surface on Ryugu, but tests showed that the asteroid is covered in larger gravel.As a result the team had to carry out a simulation to test whether the projectile would be capable of disturbing enough material to be collected by what scientists call a "sample horn," which protrudes from the underside of the probe.This video shows the success of a December 28 test, which green-lit the asteroid landing.The team is planning a total of three sampling events over the next few weeks.Hayabusa 2 will depart Ryugu in December 2019 and return to Earth by the end of 2020 with its precious cargo of samples, which will be analyzed by scientists such as John Bridges, a professor of planetary science at the University of Leicester, UK.Bridges, who was also involved in the first Hayabusa mission, told CNN via telephone on Thursday that the event was "nail-biting stuff" due to the extreme precision involved in landing on Ryugu."This is a significant mission," said Bridges. The Phoenix Police Department released video Wednesday of a frightening moment involving a red-light runner and a family crossing the street with a stroller.Police say the incident happened near 53rd Avenue and Indian School Road on October 14, around 10 p.m. Watch video of the incident in the player above.The family says Ulysses Betancourt, his wife Gabrielle and 1-year-old son Damian were on the way to the grocery store after riding the bus. Police say the driver who ran the red-light, 28-year-old Ernesto Otanez Oveso, was driving under the influence at the time. The driver with the right-of-way in the crash was injured, but the injuries were not life-threatening.After the crash, police say Oveso fled the scene along with a female passenger. Oveso allegedly told a witness that was following him to get away, and stabbed the car door of the witness. "He could've taken people's family members away, innocent people. Why would you do such a thing?" said Ulysses's sister, Abby Betancourt. "I'm so glad I'm going to see my brother. I love him and my sister-in-law."
