The captain of a cruise ship hit by the coronavirus told passengers it's headed to the port of Oakland, California. Grand Princess Capt. John Smith told passengers in an audio address Saturday night that the ship will dock in Oakland. The company that owns the ship says it is expected to arrive on Monday. Smith told passengers that people who require “acute medical treatment and hospitalization” will be taken to health care facilities in California. Other guests will be taken to federally operated isolation sites or transported out of California. The captain said he was not given any information about non-U.S. citizens. The only volunteer fire department in Hamilton, a small community in Monroe County, Mississippi, was destroyed in this weekend's devastating tornadoes.The tornado hit Monroe County on Saturday night, said CNN meteorologist Gene Norman. It was one of about six tornadoes to hit the state this weekend. One person in Monroe was killed and 10 people were injured.This weekend's massive storm system ravaged areas from Texas to Mississippi. Seven people died because of the severe weather, including the person in Mississippi, four people in Texas and two in Louisiana.Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant declared a state of emergency Sunday for areas affected by the severe weather.A photo of the destroyed fire station shows debris strewn all over and trucks standing in place underneath.Terry Tucker, Monroe's fire coordinator, said on Sunday he was alerted to the fate of the fire department's building around 11 p.m. Saturday."We took a direct hit," one firefighter told Tucker over the radio. The medical journal BMJ published a report today that links a lower risk of early death to higher levels of physical activity at any intensity in middle-aged and older people.Previous studies have repeatedly suggested that any type of sedentary behavior, such as sitting still, is not good for your health. Being sedentary for 9.5 hours or more a day, excluding sleeping time, is associated with an increased risk of death.Led by Prof. Ulf Ekelund of the Norwegian School of Sports Sciences located in Oslo, Norway, researchers analyzed studies that assessed how physical activity and sedentary time were linked with risk of an early death.Using accelerometers -- a wearable device that tracks the volume and intensity of activity -- to measure total activity, intensity levels were separated into categories of light, moderate and vigorous.Cooking or washing dishes were examples of light intensity, brisk walking or mowing the lawn were considered moderate intensity, and jogging or carrying heavy loads were used as examples of vigorous intensity.The risk of death for participants was approximately five times higher for those who were inactive compared to those who were the most active, according to the researchers.The study was conducted in the United States and Western Europe on 36,383 adults who were at least 40 years old with an average age of 62.
