SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The attorney for Rebecca Zahau’s family spoke Friday about the San Diego County Sheriff Department’s new review of her death at the Spreckels Mansion in Coronado.Earlier in the day, Sheriff Bill Gore announced that investigators found no evidence that she “died at the hands of another”. The department will not reopen the case.Zahau’s body was found hanging a the Spreckels Mansion in Coronado in 2011. Her wrists and feet were bound. For years, there has been speculation about the nature of her death, which was originally determined to be a suicide.Zahau family attorney Keith Greer suggested Friday afternoon that the Sheriff’s investigators are corrupt. “It’s not a logical decision. There’s something here that’s motivating these folks to do the wrong thing,” he told 10News. “I don’t know how they look at themselves in the mirror,” he added. Greer said that a rational person would not look at the evidence and believe that Zahau’s death was a suicide. The Zahau family lives in Missouri and did not want to be involved in Friday’s briefing at the Sheriff’s Department. They did release a recent photo of Zahau’s gravesite, surrounded by snow and flowers.Greer said he and the family are disappointed in the Sheriff’s Department, especially after a jury recently ruled in the family’s favor during the civil case. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Students from around San Diego are using a modern medium to learn and inspire.The Cesar Chavez Service Clubs, which has chapters at 22 local schools, has launched the "Chavistas Podcast."Once a month, they interview a local leader, learning that person's story. They hope it can inspire other kids to reach for the stars."We feel that, as a community of Chavistas, that we can get a good message of community out there," say Ariana Gallegos, the club supervisor.Gallegos has a background in radio broadcasting and uses that to help the kids craft their interviews."It's a beautiful experience that I get to bring the students to a setting that sometimes is hard to be at," says Galleos. "But it allows them to see that if I can do it, you can do it."Students in the club say it's been a fun experience. They hope other kids will listen and learn."When it turnes out good, it's really nice, just feeling like you accomplished something good," says Wilson Elementary 7th Grader Mecklin Montgomery. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Target cash registers suffered a nationwide outage Saturday, leaving some customers around the country sitting in line for hours.The company's corporate office said an "internal technology issue" shut down registers for about two hours Saturday, preventing customers from making purchases in store.Target added that the technology issue was not a data breach or security-related issue and that customer data was no compromised. By 2:30 p.m., Target said their systems were back online:"Target’s registers are fully back online and guests are able to purchase their merchandise again in all stores. The temporary outage earlier today was the result of an internal technology issue that lasted for approximately two hours. Our technology team worked quickly to identify and fix the issue, and we apologize for the inconvenience and frustration this caused for our guests. After an initial but thorough review, we can confirm that this was not a data breach or security-related issue, and no guest information was compromised at any time.
