(CNS) - Authorities asked for the public's help in finding the driver of a minivan suspected of following a nine-year-old boy along a street in Santee and trying to entice him to get into the van.The boy told San Diego County Sheriff's Department deputies he was walking alone on Trailridge Avenue, between Hightail Drive and Weston Road, about 5 p.m. Wednesday when the driver asked him to get into the van and go to a community pool with him. The boy refused and walked away and the driver left the area, according to Sgt. Joseph Jarjura.The driver was described as a white man, between 18-20 years old with short black hair, wearing a light-colored T-shirt, Jarjura said, adding a woman may have been in the passenger seat, but no description was available.The minivan was possibly a black Dodge Caravan with tinted windows and black rims.Anyone with information was asked to call the department at 858-565-5200. 938

SEATTLE (AP) — Prosecutors plan to decide on charges against the man who hit two protesters with his car while driving on a Seattle freeway that was closed for Black Lives Matter demonstrations. One of the protesters was killed. Police say Dawit Kelete hit two people at about 1:40 a.m. Saturday. Summer Taylor, a 24-year-old veterinary clinic worker, suffered critical injuries and died Saturday night. Diaz Love was hospitalized in serious condition. However, more than 200 students aren't returning to the classroom just yet after they were suspended for violating the school's new coronavirus pandemic policy.Ohio State leaders say 228 students broke campus guidelines about social gatherings since returning to campus.Students began moving back to the Columbus campus on Aug. 19. Upon their return, the university told students they needed to wear masks, practice social distancing and limit their get-togethers to no more than 10 people.There's no word on how long the students' suspensions will last, but school leaders hope it will show others how serious they are about controlling the spread of COVID-19 on campus.Several other large universities across the country have been forced to suspend classes after large outbreaks of the virus on campus. SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) -- A surfer was found dead face down in the water at Upper Trestles at San Onofre State Beach in San Diego County.The Orange County Register reports South Sector Superintendent for State Parks Rich Haydon says the man, described as middle age, was seen struggling Saturday as he paddled out into the surf at the break just south of San Clemente's border.It's unclear if the man was struggling because of the surf conditions or because of health issues.Nearby surfers then noticed the man face down in the water.Camp Pendleton Fire Department responded and continued attempting CPR before declaring the man dead at the scene.The San Diego County Medical Examiner had not released the man's name as of Monday morning. 746
