EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- Five people were taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after reportedly falling ill at an El Cajon animal hospital.The incident was reported at around 1:40 p.m. at the Care & Comfort Veterinary Hospital on 522 E Chase Ave.According to Heartland Fire officials, five adults and two children inside the hospital reported not feeling well.Responding emergency crews conducted tests on the adults and children, and they found the seven people had elevated levels of carbon monoxide in their systems.The adults were transported, but the two children -- for reasons unknown -- were not taken to the hospital.Fire officials said a hazardous materials team and county health officials tested the air in the building but could not locate the source of the carbon monoxide.Meanwhile, officials advised owners to pick up their pets from the hospital out of an abundance of caution. 911
EDINBURG, Texas - A bizarre incident during a high school playoff game in Texas on Thursday left a referee with injuries after being attacked by a player he had just ejected.Edinburg High School defensive end Emmanuel Duron was penalized for shoving another player to the ground and attempting to tackle the opposing team's quarterback after a play was over The Monitor reports.Referee Fred Garcia ejected Duron from the game for the two unsportsmanlike penalties.After Garcia announced the ejection, Duron charged back onto the field and slammed into the referee, causing him to fly back into the artificial turf.Duron's teammates and coaches held the player back while crews attended to Garcia. Four off-duty police officers escorted Duron out of the stadium and away from the premises.Garcia was able to walk off the field on his own and was evaluated in an ambulance outside the stadium. He was reported to have suffered a concussion and a shoulder injury.After the delay, the game resumed and Edinburg ended up defeating Pharr-San Juan-Alamo 35-21 to advance to the playoffs, The Associated Press reported. But on Friday, the team was removed from the playoffs by the school district, the district announced in a statement."The district has decided to remove the Edinburg High School football team from the playoffs after an unexpected incident involving a student that occurred during a football game on December 3, 2020," the district said. "We extend a sincere apology to the referee and his family. On behalf of the Edinburg CISD Board of Trustees and administration, we apologize to the athletes, staff, and our school community. We will take the appropriate disciplinary action once we understand the facts and circumstances underlining this incident. Go to online sites like Glassdoor, Pay Scale and The Bureau of Labor Statistics. Those sites will show you the average pay range of someone in your position. "Speak to a really legitimate recruiter or temporary staffing agency, depending on what you do, because they have data on every job that they service," suggests Ollig. Dr. Robert Redfield, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, insisted Thursday that his agency would not be issuing new guidelines for reopening schools.Instead, Redfield said the CDC would be issuing additional resources that will assist schools as they attempt to reopen in the fall.During an interview on CNN, Redfield said that among the resources the CDC would be releasing in the next week were guidelines on spotting symptoms in students. He later added that the guidance was not a requirement that schools would need to complete in order to reopen.Redfield made similar comments on ABC's Good Morning America, saying upcoming guidance for schools was "not a revision of the guidelines, it's just to provide additional information to help the schools be able to use the guidance that we put forward."Redfield's comments contradict those of Vice President Mike Pence, who said in a briefing on Wednesday that the CDC would be issuing new guidelines in reopening schools.
