FALLBROOK, Calif. (KGTV) -- A 55-year-old man died Monday afternoon following a crash in Fallbrook, according to California Highway Patrol.The agency said the crash happened on East Mission Road west of Red Mountain Dam Drive around 1:16 p.m.CHP said a 47-year-old woman driving a Mustang drifted to the left into oncoming traffic, striking a Toyota Tacoma driven by the 55-year-old man.The driver of the Tacoma was taken to the hospital where he later died. The driver of the Mustang was also taken to the hospital for major injuries, CHP said.Officers later determined that the driver of the Mustang was under the influence of a drug. She was arrested before being released into the care of Palomar Medical Center, CHP said.The crash is under investigation. 767

(KGTV) - Westfield Mall will be terminating its leases with two pet stores operating on their properties in San Diego County.It comes after two animal rights groups filed a lawsuit against Westfield and Bark Avenue, the pet store in the North County Fair mall.“We want to shut them down,” said Bryan Pease, attorney for the Animal Protection and Rescue League and Not One Animal Harmed.The complaint accuses Bark Avenue of unfair business practices. Despite a new state law that prohibits the retail sale of cats, dogs and rabbits, except for rescues, Bark Avenue has continued to sell purebred and designer puppies. (KGTV) — The man charged with killing a 55-year-old woman as she left bible study last year has been sentenced.Dionicio Torrez Jr., 25, was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the March 7, 2017, shooting of Catherine Kennedy in Escondido. The judge also gave Torrez Jr. an extra 35 years to life in prison for attempted murder of rival gang members. (KGTV) -- The San Diego Children's Discovery Museum in Escondido has been quiet since mid-March, when they had to close their doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic."It's been hard, and in the beginning, it was very eerie," said museum Executive Director Wendy Taylor.Normally, the museum plays host to a few hundred visitors every day, and on a busy day, that number may reach as high as 500 guests.However, for the last four months, the museum has been nothing more than the sound of silence. In fact, over the last month, when other museums were allowed to reopen their doors, the Children's Discovery Museum did not."We don't really fall into the traditional museum category in terms of the reopening. Kids’ museums are specifically called out in the state guidelines as not being a traditional museum. So, in the guidelines for museums, it specifically calls out that interactive areas should remain closed,” Taylor said.Taylor told ABC 10News she's very proud of the way the museum has adjusted during these uncertain times. They've had to become more creative in all their activities, from camps to storytelling, and everything has gone online."Families really needed some support. They needed something regular and normal, that their kids could see and engage in,” said Taylor.Storytime has been very popular with the children, as the museum receives viewers from all over the world. ELIZABETH, Colo. — Police in Elizabeth, Colorado are investigating an unprovoked attack in the midst of an 8th-grade classroom at Elizabeth Middle School.Cell phone video posted on social media shows a male student walk over to another male student and repeatedly punch him. The attack occurred sometime this month.The attack appears to have been planned.
