BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- A Bloomington, Ind. man is accused of holding a toddler under hot water as a punishment after the child soiled his diaper, causing severe burns.The investigation began on November 24, after the 2-year-old boy was transported to Riley Hospital for Children to be treated for multiple severe burns and other injuries.According to court documents, Dennis Tannen, 29, was watching his girlfriend’s son while she was at work when the child was burned.Tannen initially told police that he had put the child in the bathtub and left him for “10 seconds” and when he came back the child had turned on the hot water, burning himself.The child's mother said Tannen called her and she rushed home and found him “outside smoking a cigarette.” She told police that her son had large burn marks on his face that looked like his skin was falling off when she first saw him. They took the child to IU Bloomington Hospital where he was later transported to Riley Hospital for Children.The child was treated for severe burns on his face, lips, buttocks, and genitals. Riley doctors told police that the child also had suspicious bruising on his chest and face and that the child’s injuries did not match up the couple's story. After multiple rounds of questioning, Tannen eventually admitted to police that he was waiting for a phone call when the toddler had a bowel movement in his diaper. He said he became agitated and went to wash the child off in the bathtub, turning the water on “full hot” and holding him under it to wash him off.Tannen told police he also put the child’s face under the same hot water to wash and that the child had slipped when he was holding him and he grabbed him, which caused the bruises on the child’s chest.Tannen was arrested and charged with felony neglect of a dependent. 1833

BALTIMORE, Md. - A picture is worth a thousand words. It's a cliche saying but it's true.Many times when you look at a picture, it takes you back to that exact moment in time. That's what a local artist focuses on doing for people to capture their memories.Shawn Parsons has been painting his entire life and sells his work but sometimes he gives away a piece of his artwork.Over the winter, he painted a picture of a pet after his coworker's dog died."The overwhelming joy was so huge for me when I left there I thought maybe there’s something about painting someone else’s memories," said Parsons. "It was such a cool feeling for me to give something to someone where the emotion was so high I continued to do it."So he painted a few more and gave them away.This pandemic put a different twist on things for Parsons. His friend, Erin Millon, asked if he would paint a picture for her son's birthday. It was just another project that turned into a movement.Parsons painted a picture for her son, McCabe, of him playing lacrosse. McCabe made the varsity lacrosse team at McDonogh High School as a freshman but his season was canceled."We were able to play two games and then everything shut down," said McCabe. "It hurt a lot, still does. One of the worst parts about it was seeing how much the seniors lost and knowing how much they care and how much they’ve been working all fall, all winter."McCabe was blown away by Parsons' painting, he wanted others to feel what he did. Beginning Tuesday, anyone traveling to Hawaii must fill out a "Safe Travels" application, the Hawaiian government announced.In a news release, the government said the health information the travelers provide on the application would be a way for them to protect the health of their residents and visitors during the coronavirus pandemic.The new screening process will also include temperature checks upon arrival and secondary screening for anyone with symptoms or temperatures of 100.4℉ or higher."I am pleased to launch this digital app, which will allow our travelers to provide their required health and travel information before they arrive at the airport," said Gov. David Ige in the press release. "It will also help us keep in contact with those who are required to be in quarantine. This is an important step in preparing to reopen our economy."Currently, the government has visitors fill out two different forms: one for inter-island and trans-pacific travel."This [new] platform provides a one-stop-shop for both types of travelers," the government said.The way it works is that travelers will enter their information and travel plans 24 hours before their flight. They'll then receive a QR code via email, which they will scan at the airport upon arrival.Gov. The documents show that MacFarlane reportedly paid an agency to fabricate a soccer profile for his daughter and a basketball profile for his son.MacFarlane reportedly paid 0,000 to various organizations for the admissions. His daughter attended the school from 2014 to 2018 when she graduated, according to the documents.
