President Donald Trump lavished praise on China for the very trade practices he once lambasted as unfair during a remarkable morning session in Beijing.Emerging after two hours of talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Trump said he doesn't fault China for taking advantage of differences between the way the two countries do business."I don't blame China," Trump said during remarks to business leaders inside the Great Hall of the People. "After all, who can blame a country for being able to take advantage of another country for benefit of their citizens? I give China great credit." 597

POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) - Poway homeowners say what once was a pristine golf course has now become an overgrown zoo. StoneRidge Country Club closed after voters defeated a previous development plan in 2017.Since the closure neighbors who live along the forlorn course say, little has been done to clear out brush and preserve the once lush golf course. "Absolutely nothing has been done on the course to maintain any sense of beauty. It's been a hazard with the bees, the snakes, the scorpions, gopher holes, you name it," said Rosalind Duddy, who's lived along the golf course since 1991. A crusader for her community, Duddy now goes on the course several times a month with a week whacker, clearing out dry brush. "Considering that we were here in '07 fires, and ultimately had to evacuate, 20-some homes were burned to the ground, brings back really, really incredible memories, and certainly I wouldn't want to have to have that experience again," said Duddy. The property is currently owned by Michael Schlesinger, who city officials say has completed the weed clearing around the perimeter of the property, consistent with the requirements for fire fuel management. This includes the clearing of weeds within 100 feet of structures. However, he has not yet completed the clearing around the clubhouse building.City officials say the weed abatement (wildfire defensible space) requirements are 100 feet from structures and 10 feet from roadways that are in the high fire hazard areas. Only the northeastern portion of the Stoneridge property is in the high fire hazard area. There are a few additional sections the city is planning to ask Schlesinger to clear 10 feet along. The city also adds that complaints about the property's appearance fronting Espola Road are based on aesthetics and since this is not in the high fire hazard area they have not asked for this to be cleared.Poway developer Kevin McNamara hopes neighbors will support his plan for the defunct golf course.McNamara calls his development "The Farms at Stoneridge." It has an agricultural theme, including hiking trails, parks, community gardens, and a butterfly farm. It would also bring 160 homes to the area. Voters will get a chance to vote on the plan in 2020.A community workshop will be held in September and McNamara urges people with questions or suggestions to email him at yourpoway@gmail.com. 2398

POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) - Photographs of a man who deputies say flashed a pistol in his waistband at a Poway Walmart clerk were released Friday in the effort to find him.Poway Sheriff’s deputies said the man went to the store at 13425 Community Road on Saturday, November 10 at 8 p.m. and approached the customer service counter. The man displayed a silver and black semi automatic pistol and told the clerk to open the cash register, deputies said. The employee turned over the cash drawer and the man got away with cash.Deputies describe the man as African-American, between 30 and 40 years old, 5’10” to six feet tall, unshaven, and with a medium complexion. He was wearing a blue baseball cap with white lettering and a picture of a marlin fish on the front. Deputies say it may be advertising for a charter fishing boat.Anyone with information leading to an arrest could receive up to ,000 in a reward.Crime Stoppers is asking for tips at 888-580-8477. The caller can remain anonymous. 1001

President Donald Trump is considering firing Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, multiple people familiar with the discussions tell CNN, a move that has gained urgency following the raid of the office of the President's personal lawyer.Such an action could potentially further Trump's goal of trying to put greater limits on special counsel Robert Mueller. This is one of several options -- including going so far as to fire Attorney General Jeff Sessions?-- Trump is weighing in the aftermath of the FBI's decision Monday to raid the office of Michael Cohen, the President's personal lawyer and longtime confidant. Officials say if Trump acts, Rosenstein is his most likely target, but it's unclear whether even such a dramatic firing like this would be enough to satisfy the President.Trump has long been angry at top Justice Department officials, who he feels have not done enough to protect him from Mueller's ongoing probe. But two sources said the raid could mark a tipping point that would prompt the President to take more aggressive action against the special counsel.Firing Mueller could throw Trump's presidency into crisis and not all of Trump's legal advisers are on board. One source said Rosenstein wouldn't be fired. But some of Trump's legal advisers are telling him they now have a stronger case against Rosenstein. They believe Rosenstein crossed the line in what he can and cannot pursue. And they consider him conflicted since he is a potential witness in the special counsel's investigation because he wrote the memo that justified firing former FBI Director James Comey. The legal advisers also believe they have successfully argued to the American public that the FBI is tainted and think they can make the same case against Rosenstein.A senior administration official said the White House has been discussing potential options with key congressional Republican leaders, fearful of "blindsiding them." A person familiar with the conversations says a top congressional Republican advised the White House not to fire Rosenstein. 2085
