Injured Buffalo protester Martin Gugino has been released from the hospital, nearly four weeks after he was pushed to the ground by two Buffalo police officers.Gugino, 75, will be recovering at an undisclosed location to protect his privacy, according to his attorney Kelly Zarcone."Martin wants to thank the entire hospital staff for their exceptional dedication and professionalism," Zarcone said. "He received truly outstanding care and for that, he is grateful."Gugino has been at ECMC since June 4, when he was shoved to the ground outside Buffalo City Hall by officers Aaron Torgalski and Robert McCabe. Gugino's skull was fractured when the back of his head hit the sidewalk. The fall, which was captured on cell phone video, happened moments after Gugino approached a moving line of officers.Torgalski and McCabe are facing second-degree assault charges. They remain suspended without pay. 905

IRVINE, Calif. (KGTV) -- A new study claims that hookah could be more dangerous than other forms of smoking. According to the University of California study, one in five college students in the US and Europe have tried it. According to researchers who conducted the study, one draw from a pipe can contain as many substances as an entire cigarette. “Hookah mainstream smoke – that which is directly inhaled by the user – has many toxic and harmful chemicals, such as nicotine, which can lead to tobacco addiction; irritating carbonyl compounds; and benzine, a known carcinogen,” said lead author Veronique Perraud, a UCI assistant project scientist in the Department of Chemistry. “And due to the greater volume inhaled for every puff and the longer duration of a smoking session, the hookah oftentimes delivers a higher dose of those chemicals to the smoker.”The study also found that the hookah produces an outsized amount of carbon monoxide mainly due to the burning charcoal. According to the university, the study is the first to look at ultrafine particles. Particles researchers say pose a significant health risk. “One of the big myths about hookah usage is that the water in the bowl actually filters out the toxic chemicals, providing a shield for the smoker,” Perraud noted. “In the study, we show that this is not the case for most of the gases and that, possibly due to its cooling effect, water actually promotes ultrafine particle formation.” 1465

Instead of planes, trains, automobiles, and hotels, more and more travelers are considering renting an RV for upcoming trips. After all, there is virtually no risk of contracting COVID-19 when you are sleeping and eating in your own home on wheels. But while it appears a great way to travel, you need to know the pros and cons before you rent a camper (that you pull) or motor home (that you drive). It's the vacation rage of 2020, according to Money magazine, which calls RV's "virus friendly," since you drive across the country with your own bedroom and kitchen. But Money says many people end up surprised at the total cost, which can total a lot more than you first think.Know the real costRV rental can range from 0 to 0 per night, similar to a hotel room.Campsites are another to as much as 0 a night, depending on location and amenities.Gas can cost to 0 per day, even with today's low gas prices, as most motor homes get just 5 to 10 miles per gallon.Your auto insurance may not cover the full value of that RV, and your credit card may not cover it at all. That means you may have to pay or more per day for RV insurance.Add it up and you can end up spending 0 - 0 per night, though it is still cheaper than a 0 a night luxury resort. One other downside: many rental RV's are budget models, without all the high-end amenities you see at RV shows. Tour the model first, before you rent.Pull-behind camper or motor home?Campers that you pull tend to rent for less than models you drive. But think twice about a pull-behind camper if you have never towed a vehicle before. You will need an SUV or pickup built for towing, with a tow package that includes brake light hookups. And if you have never towed anything, you could be in for a surprise when you try to back up.A small or mid-size motor home that you drive is usually best for first-timers, experts say.And you have your own COVID-free accommodations, which can be well worth the cost.Bottom line: Campers are a great way to travel safely during the pandemic. Interested? Check a major rental firm like Cruise America. Or rent directly from owners at RV Share.Just know all the costs involved, so you don't waste your money.___________________________Don't Waste Your Money" is a registered trademark of Scripps Media, Inc. Instagram is continuing its efforts to combat bullying on the platform. On Tuesday, the company said it is starting to use new machine learning technology to proactively detect bullying in photos and captions. Those posts will be sent to Instagram's Community Operations team for human review."Online bullying is complex, and we know we have more work to do to further limit bullying and spread kindness on Instagram," Adam Mosseri, the new head of Instagram, said in a blog post.Mosseri was named Instagram's chief last week following the exit of co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger. This is Mosseri's first announcement in his new role.An Instagram spokesperson said the technology can detect bullying and harassment such as attacks on a person's appearance or character and threats to someone's wellbeing or health. For example, the tech can identify bullying tactics such as comparing, ranking and rating images and captions, such as a split-screen image in which a person is compared to someone else in a negative way. It's unclear what else the technology can detect and whether it would work on images without captions. This feature has started to roll out and will continue to in the coming weeks. The company, owned by Facebook, is also launching a "Kindness Camera Effect" in partnership with dancer Maddie Ziegler. Anyone who follows Ziegler will have the camera effect automatically. In selfie mode, hearts will appear on the screen. In rear mode, kind comments in different languages will appear. You can tag friends, too.Earlier this year, Instagram announced it would filter out bullying comments that aim to harass or upset users. That feature built on a tool introduced last year that blocks offensive comments, and a filter that removes spam in comments. Starting Tuesday, the bullying comment filter will also apply to Live Videos on Instagram.Users can also turn off comments on individual Instagram posts and block posts with certain keywords. 1975
