SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The Anti-Defamation League in San Diego announced a reward Thursday for information leading to the arrest of a suspect who reportedly shot at the Temple Emanu-El in Del Cerro. According to the ADL, the temple became aware that the building had been struck by bullets in “recent days.” When exactly the building was targeted is unclear. The league says the bullet holes were discovered in a portion of the building not in use. San Diego Police are also investigating the incident, but the ADL says they don’t believe there is a “known continuing threat to Temple Emanu-El or other Jewish institutions in the area.”“ADL takes any report of violence against a religious institution extremely seriously, and will always commit our utmost effort and resources to securing justice for victims,” said Tammy Gillies, ADL San Diego Regional Director. “We hope that by offering this reward, someone with critical information for investigators will be motivated to speak out.“According to the ADL, 2018 saw a 27 percent increase in anti-Semitic incidents throughout California. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The latest surge in coronavirus cases has led Girl Scouts San Diego to cancel all in-person gatherings, meetings, and events for the rest of 2020. The decision comes just three weeks after the resumption of in-person troop meetings had been approved.Christa Sherman, Troop Support Manager for Girl Scouts San Diego, told ABC 10News the decision is the responsible one and is widely supported by troops across the county. "Our Girl Scouts are so resourceful and they really want to do what’s best for their communities, for their schools, for their troops," Sherman said.Both the national and local organizations have been building up their ability to support virtual meetings since the beginning of the pandemic. Troop leaders have access to lesson plans and videos. They can bring necessary materials to drop off at scout's homes before the meetings."We’ve had better attendance at meetings, which is crazy, virtually then sometimes when we were meeting in person," said Elise Hilliard, a troop leader in the South Bay.Even camp-outs are now being done virtually. Kids set up tents in the yard or build forts inside. They set up their mobile device so they can share the experience with their friends. Hilliard said the experiences may be different, but that hasn't changed the Girl Scouts mission. When finished, the museum plans to have a 25,000-square-feet of space for exhibits, more than 6,000-square-feet of classroom space for hands-on enrichment, and a 4K video theater and presentation space.The museum says it will also host a year-round schedule of programs and exhibits, like Comic-Con panels, creator meet-and-greets, experiential cinema, watch parties, eSports, cosplay shows, and more.A cafe featuring items themed off of current exhibits and programs is also planned. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The leader of a San Diego motorcycle gang pleaded guilty Tuesday to participating in a scheme to seal dozens of Jeep Wranglers in San Diego County. Jimmy Josue Martinez, a leader of the Hooligans motorcycle gang, pleaded guilty Tuesday, admitting to participating in the scheme. According to court records, the gang is responsible for the theft of more than 150 of the vehicles since 2014, totaling about .5 million. Records show that the Hooligans used high-tech methods to disable security systems and steal the Jeeps before taking them to Tijuana to be sold or stripped for parts. Martinez and members of his crew would obtain the vehicle identification number in advance before getting secret key codes which allowed them to create a duplicate key for a particular Jeep. “The joy ride is over for Mr. Martinez,” said U.S. Attorney Robert Brewer. “These thefts were audacious and sophisticated and created hassle and heartache for scores of Jeep owners. I congratulate prosecutors Andrew Galvin and Joseph S. Green, the FBI and members of the Regional Auto Theft Task Force for putting together a strong case against a gang that, unfortunately, has lived up to its name.”Along with Martinez, eight other members of the gang were charged in a grand jury indictment in 2017.
