Coli were reported among Marine recruits, according to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot.Although 19 new cases were reported, the number of recruits still recovering from the illness fell to 86 Thursday. Tuesday, 302 recruits were reportedly undergoing treatment for E. Coli. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Three prominent Democrats have filed papers with the City of San Diego declaring their intention to run for mayor in 2020. San Diego City Councilwoman Barbara Bry, Assemblyman Todd Gloria, and Congressman Scott Peters all submitted documents to the City Clerk, allowing them to fund raise for the 2020 primary on March 3. They would replace Mayor Kevin Faulconer, a Republican, who is termed out in 2020. Bry formally announced her candidacy on Wednesday. She said her experience as a high tech entrepreneur and nonprofit leader give her a unique approach to tackling key city issues like cost of housing, homelessness, clean energy, and educating students for the jobs of tomorrow. "That will be very important for me to get my message out and to meet people and to learn about their issues."Peters, recently re-elected to the House of Representatives, was in Washington D.C. and unavailable for an interview. A spokeswoman for the Congressman said he formed an exploratory committee but has made no decision yet as to whether to run. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - These days, it's hard to go a block in the East Village without seeing a restaurant that's out of business.Recently, the Tilted Kilt, Market Hall, Smashburger, and Sol Cal Cafe have all shuttered. "I just noticed constant, consistent places are closing around here," said Ed Korb, who was visiting the area Thursday.Alina Ahmed, who owns Cafe De L'Opera, on J Street, says it's ever-increasing rents, and higher costs like minimum wage and electricity that are squeezing her, and causing her colleagues to close. She's been in business for five years, and says it gets harder each time the calendar turns. "Everybody thinks that because you're close to Petco Park, which is a great location, you're going to make a lot of money," she said. Ahmed says she tried keeping her cafe open during Padre games, but even then the foot traffic couldn't justify it.The East Village Association, which keeps a directory businesses, said in a statement that this part of the evolution of the neighborhood."As the East Village community continues to grow, so to does the sophistication of our businesses housing and residents, which lends to a competitive higher end urban environment, offering a uniquely downtown San Diego experience," the association said. A spokeswoman for the Tilted Kilt, which also closed its Mission Valley location earlier this year, said the owner of the space near Petco Park wanted to go in a different direction.   1502

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The state agency that protects California consumers by licensing and regulating the state’s construction industry received more than 30 complaints about a San Diego County-based business.A Team 10 investigation discovered some customers who said they signed a contract with American Pride Enterprises, paid thousands of dollars up front and were left with little or nothing. The Contractors State License Board revoked American Pride Enterprises' license for non-compliance with an arbitration award in July of 2018.An outdoor cover to block the sun was the final piece in what had been a total backyard transformation for the Zimmerman family.“We were just looking to put a patio cover over our east-facing patio,” said Jim Zimmerman.Zimmerman said in 2017 he hired American Pride Enterprises and its owner Stephen Hage to do the work.He said there were no red flags. The company was licensed, bonded and at the time there were no real complaints online.“We paid just under ,200,” Zimmerman said. “That was to cover materials, and he was supposed to come back in three weeks and complete the job. That was the last time we ever saw Stephen Hage.”Zimmerman told Team 10 Hage initially offered to pay the money back, but instead of getting a check Zimmerman got excuse after excuse about why the money hadn’t arrived.Eventually, Zimmerman said the evasion tactics were too much and he sued Hage in smalls claims court.Zimmerman says he got some of his money back.A Team 10 investigation discovered Zimmerman isn't alone.Team 10 was in court when several people who claim Hage swindled them reached an agreement with his bonding company, getting some of their money back.James Francois said he paid Hage more than ,000 for a patio.“He never showed up, never delivered any material, never did an hour of work,” Francois told 10News.Court documents show more than 20 names listed on the lawsuit filed by the bonding company, which seeks reimbursement from Hage.A spokesperson for AmTrust told us, “This is a claim filed under a contractor’s license bond issued to our principal, American Pride Enterprises, by Wesco.
