Two sisters, ages 5 and 8, were found safe today after being lost in California woods for nearly two days.“1.4 miles away from their house and this was rugged territory. This is an extreme environment, and how they were out there for 44 hours is pretty amazing,” said William Honsal with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office during a press conference Monday.Police say the girls’ outdoor survival training with 4-H, the largest youth development organization in the U.S., may have helped them. “There are basic concepts that if we really understand, those basic concepts can take us quite a ways,” says Jessica Krebs, a survival instructor with SERE training.SERE—which stands for Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape—is commonly used in training the military. One of the first survival lessons Krebs teaches is to make yourself be seen. It was reported the young sisters lost their voices while yelling for help. The girls lost their voices yelling for help. “It's really good that these girls felt secure enough and had good, good parenting to say, ‘Yes, I can be loud and I’m going to let people know I need help,’” Krebs says. According to reports, the girls survived by hiding in a huckleberry bush and drinking water from its leaves. When it comes to survival, Krebs says accessing water is far more important than accessing food. Krebs also says to use dead airspace to regulate body temperature.“When we need to stay thermally regulated, we need to not get too hot or too cold. Creating dead air space around her body is what's essential,” she says. “That's going to create the insulation that we need.” The girls were dehydrated and cold, but first responders say they are in good spirits and will be fine. 1732

Twitter "hid" a tweet by President Donald Trump on Friday morning, saying that the message violated the platform's rules about "glorifying violence."The tweet was in reference to protests in Minneapolis regarding the death of George Floyd. Trump threatened to send in the National Guard if Minnesota officials could not reign in rioting and added that "when the looting starts, the shooting starts." He also refered to looters as "THUGS."According to 463

William Bruesewitz died in the attack at Pearl Harbor attack at the age of 26.This month, his family finally laid him to rest 77 years after he died.“Everybody is overjoyed and thrilled that we’re able to do this and very much humbled and honored that we’re able to do it at Arlington National Cemetery,” said Brent Stevenson, Bruesewitz’s nephew.Bruesewitz served in the U.S. Navy and died during an attack on his battleship, the USS Oklahoma. His remains were recovered but could not be identified. For decades, he was buried as an unknown soldier. But advances in technology allowed the military to re-examine his remains and finally make a positive identification.“It was surprising. It was a blessing. It was really quite humbling,” said Stevenson.Scientists at the Department of Defense are working on giving other families the same closure.“Every year it is our goal to identify at least 200 of these service members. But we would like to get that number higher if we can find ways to do it,” said Dr. John Byrd, the chief scientist from the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency.Over the years, Byrd and his team have found new ways to use advanced DNA techniques to identify remains and they continue to make progress.“They have developed over and over again, improved extraction protocols that allow them to get DNA out of bones where yesterday they couldn’t,” said Byrd. But Byrd admits the race against time, not technology, can be the biggest obstacle as older generations pass away.“It’s one of the greatest challenges of all, and this is how do you find close or closet family members of a missing service man from 1944?” Byrd said.Despite the challenges, the mission moves forward to give a name and dignity to thousands of fallen soldiers.“All of this work, ultimately, is being done so that this service member can have his name back and his family will know what happened to him,” said Byrd.“It’s gonna bring a lot of comfort to a lot of families just like it has ours,” said Stevenson. 2010

UK police have launched a murder investigation after 39 people were found dead in a truck container at an industrial park in Essex, 30 kilometers east of London. One of the victims was in their teens.Authorities believe the truck, which originated in Bulgaria, entered the UK through the Welsh port of Holyhead over the weekend. A regular ferry service connects Holyhead with the Irish capital, Dublin."We are in the process of identifying the victims, however I anticipate that this could be a lengthy process," Chief Superintendent Andrew Mariner said in a statement. They have arrested a 25-year-old Northern Irish truck driver "on suspicion of murder" after finding the bodies early on Wednesday morning, 720
