As hundreds of homeless wait to return to the Alpha Project tent in downtown after it was flooded last week, San Diegans are stepping in to give them a little holiday cheer.ABC 10News reporter Natay Holmes was at SDCCU Stadium on Sunday morning where a local photographer, Abe Barron, and a group of kind-hearted volunteers, donated food and treats to those in need.Their mission is called "X-Mas on the Street." The group got together to make 800 tamales to hand out, along with some festive Christmas cookies. Barron and the volunteers will be at the stadium today until noon. Anyone else wishing to donate to the Alpha Project today can visit Gate C through today.The Alpha Project shelter expects to be at the stadium for another week. 748

An investigation into what led up to an explosion that hurt officers and a hostage situation in North Haven continued on Thursday.State police said a man held his wife hostage inside of a home on Quinnipiac Avenue for several days.She escaped, but he barricaded himself inside a barn near a house on the property.That's when police said the explosion happened on Wednesday night.Eight officers were hurt and the suspect is not in custody. Police said they continue to search for him.The area surrounding the property has been blocked off by rows of cruisers. Quinnipiac Avenue is closed between McArthur Road and Pent Way.North Haven police said they first responded around 2 p.m. on Wednesday.A woman went to the North Haven Police Department with a complaint about an incident at the Quinnipiac Avenue home.Police said the woman had managed to escape after she was held hostage for three days by her husband.Troopers told Channel 3 that they determined a tactical response was necessary.A SWAT team was called in to help.While police and the SWAT team were negotiating with the man, state police said there was an explosion at a barn near the home.Flames were captured in video that was recorded at the scene.The last time the man was seen was when he was barricaded inside of the barn."The suspect is not in custody at this time," said trooper Kelly Grant, Connecticut State Police. "They are still attempting to locate that suspect. They have asked the residents right in this general vicinity to shelter in place while they conducted this investigation."The eight tactical officers who were hurt in the explosion were taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital.None of their injuries were life-threatening.State police have taken over the investigation.  1762

An autopsy performed on Kirkersville, Ohio police chief James Hughes Jr. revealed that the chief died of an accidental drug overdose from fentanyl, which he allegedly obtained from the police's evidence room, the Newark Advocate reported. Hughes died on May 25 after he was found unresponsive in his bathroom. An investigation conducted by police in nearby Reynoldsburg, Ohio alleged that Hughes took the drugs from the police evidence room as part of evidence involving other cases. The autopsy was performed by the Franklin County Coroner's Office in Columbus. Hughes was named chief of police on March 13, despite a checkered record, according to the Advocate. The Advocate reported that Hughes was found guilty of disorderly conduct in 2013 when Hughes allegedly yelled racial slurs at fast food employees. Investigators in Reynoldsburg said that from this point, the Ohio Attorney's General Office should handle the investigation.  999

Apple announced on Friday that it is planning to temporarily close several of its locations in four states as the number of coronavirus cases in some US states are surging.Apple said that two stores in Florida, two in North Carolina, one in South Carolina and six in Arizona will be closed until further notice. (AP) — A fifth horse has died at Santa Anita this fall, the 35th overall fatality since Dec. 26 at the Southern California racetrack.G Q Covergirl injured both her front legs Friday on the training track. The 5-year-old mare was euthanized on the advice of the attending veterinarian.Trained by two-time Kentucky Derby winner Doug O'Neill, G Q Covergirl had six wins in 16 career starts and earnings of 0,730. She had won her last two starts and finished in the money in all of her six races this year. O'Neill also owned the mare in a partnership.The training track has caused the fewest number of breakdowns. However, there have been three deaths on it since the fall meet began on Sept. 27, including one that was believed to be a heart attack. The other two fatalities occurred during races.Santa Anita hosts the Breeders' Cup world championships next weekend. 891
