LOS ANGELES (AP) — An autopsy report says a Black man shot and killed by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies was wounded 16 times in the front and back. But the report doesn’t shed any light on whether he was on the ground when he was shot. The county coroner's report supplied to The Associated Press on Friday says Dijon Kizzee had four “rapidly life-threatening wounds." The 29-year-old died Aug. 31 in South Los Angeles after deputies tried to stop him for riding a bicycle in the wrong direction. Deputies said they shot Kizzee when he picked up a dropped handgun. Locals call Atlanta, Georgia, the city too busy to hate.During early voting, however, it’s filled with people who would rather not wait.“We’re trying to make sure that our voices are heard during a really critical moment in our nation’s history,” said local voter Everette Long. “And avoid really long lines.”A record number of voters turned out during the first day of early voting in Georgia this year, including first-time voter Tim Crane.“I stood there for about four hours, but I wasn’t mad,” Crane said. “I was kind of excited to go on and see what voting was like.”Long lines at the polls and broken voting machines were issues for thousands of Georgia voters on primary day back in June, which raised questions about what it would be like when it came time for this year’s presidential election.In an effort to avoid long lines, thousands of voters flocked to the Atlanta Hawks’ State Farm Arena, which was transformed into the state’s largest early polling precinct. LOS ANGELES (AP) — All six crewmembers were asleep aboard a scuba diving boat off the Southern California coast when a fire broke out in the middle of the night, killing 34 people who were trapped in a bunkroom below the main deck, federal investigators announced Thursday. The National Transportation Safety Board's preliminary report that said five crew members were sleeping in their quarters behind the wheelhouse on the second deck and another below deck when the fire broke out. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Travelers coming through Los Angeles International and Van Nuys airports and Union Station beginning Wednesday will be required to sign a form acknowledging California's recommended 14-day self-quarantine in response to rising coronavirus rates.The form will be available at travel.lacity.org, Mayor Eric Garcetti said during a coronavirus briefing Monday.Garcetti urged people to not travel over the Thanksgiving holiday, not even to go across town because of how widespread COVID-19 cases have been and that it's too dangerous at this time.Garcetti said he is confident the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, which is slated at Tuesday's meeting to discuss coronavirus- related restrictions and closures, will make the right decisions."I know this is not popular with everybody, but if we don't take these actions now, when will we?" Garcetti said. "I know there may be some push and pull ... but I think the policies that (the county Department of Public Health) adopted are clear."Garcetti said when local government has hesitated implementing COVID- 19 restrictions, businesses have had to remain closed for longer because of the spread of the virus.
