MILWAUKEE — Christopher R. Ward has been charged with second-degree reckless homicide in the death of 14-year-old Jada Wright. Police responded to the scene late last Wednesday night at their home on the city's northwest side. According to police, Jada has cerebral palsy, and Ward was her personal care worker. Initially, the 18-year-old defendant reported to police that Jada had complications with her feeding earlier that night. He said was not involved in her death, and claimed she had a history of injuring herself.Jada's school physical therapist said she never saw Jada injure herself. She also said Jada was missing from school for a month.Ward was taken into custody after an autopsy revealed blunt force trauma to her abdomen.After further questioning, Ward admitted he had become frustrated with the girl while trying to feed her through her feeding tube. She had maneuvered her tube out of her stomach, frustrating him further. In response, he punched her in the stomach. Ward reconnected her tube and left the room. Upon returning, he saw she had vomited on herself, and did not seek additional care for her or tell first responders about his actions.    1207

Most Americans will spend more to heat their homes this winter, according to the US Energy Information Administration, part of the Department of Energy.As coronavirus pandemic safety measures continue around the country, more Americans will be spending more time in their homes this winter compared to previous years. Spending more time in the home for work and school plus the projected forecast for a colder winter, could combine for an increase in natural gas, electricity and propane heating costs.“EIA generally expects more space heating demand this winter compared with last winter based on forecasts from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) that indicate colder winter temperatures. U.S. average heating degree days in this forecast are 5% higher than last winter,” the agency stated.The EIA is projecting households will spend about 6 percent more than last year if they use natural gas, 7 percent more if they use electricity and between 12-18 percent more than last year if using propane for heat this winter.Those using heating oil could see a decrease of about 10 percent this year over their heating bills last year, according to the agency.In their short-term energy outlook report, the EIA also said renewable sources of electricity will grow in 2020 and into next year.“EIA forecasts that renewable energy will be the fastest-growing source of electricity generation in 2020. EIA expects the U.S. electric power sector will add 23.3 gigawatts (GW) of new wind capacity in 2020 and 7.3 GW of new capacity in 2021,” the report stated.They also expect a 26 percent decrease in US coal production in 2020.“COVID-19 and efforts to mitigate it along with reduced demand from the U.S. electric power sector amid low natural gas prices have contributed to mine idling and mine closures,” they stated.The agency is also projecting a 10 percent decrease in US energy-related carbon dioxide emissions in 2020, as a result of reduced consumption of fossil fuels. (KGTV) - As political tensions rise worldwide, critical training ensuring the U.S. and it's allies are ready runs straight through San Diego.MCAS Miramar hosts everyone from the Canadian Air Force, to NASA. On Wednesday, a NASA research jet took off from the flight line.Part of why Miramar is so critical is it's location. Colonel Charles Dockery, the Commanding Officer at MCAS Miramar, said due to air congestion over land, Miramar's location close to the ocean alleviates that complication."Within one flight's distance from Miramar, we are within 66% of the training air space in the Continental U.S." he said. Some of their training, mimicked in Top Gun. "Not only to take down an adversary or an airplane, but also defend ourselves from their aircraft trying to attack us," he said. Right now, MCAS Miramar is working to remain competitive with nations overseas."We have four major nation state competitors out there, Russia China, North Korea and Iran," Col. Dockery said.If the need arises, he said troops would deploy from Miramar to support the effort to defend the U.S.He said if Miramar didn't exist, it would mean millions of tax-payer dollars to conduct the same training.
