DADE CITY, Fla. — Pasco County Fire Rescue is working to extinguish a large fire that destroyed three chicken coop barns early Thursday morning.Officials say an employee who lives on the Cal-Maine Foods property, located in Dade City, called in the first alarm around 1 a.m.When firefighters arrived on the scene, they immediately called for a second alarm after noting the size of the fire.The fire destroyed three barns that each contain up to 80,000 chickens each, and officials say at least 250,000 chickens total were killed.Crews were forced to battle the flames from an exterior position because the buildings were collapsing and propane tanks were going off.“We’re trying to keep everyone safe. We’re trying to fight the fire from outside the building," Chief Shawn Whited of Pasco County Fire Rescue said. "We haven’t been able to enter those buildings yet just because of the amount of fire and the number of hazards that are in there.”A front end loader also responded to assist in the firefighting efforts.This part of Pasco County is rural and there are no water hydrants nearby. CLAREMORE, Okla. -- A Black Lives Matter group in Oklahoma group is calling a symbol at a museum outside of Tulsa offensive and asking for it to be removed. The cornerstone of the Claremore Museum of History contains a swastika, but some historians argue that the symbol was included before the rise of Nazi Germany.“It was the cornerstone in Clem Van Rogers livery stable," Will Rogers Memorial Museum Public Relations Director Pat Reeder said. “They sold it for 0 and in 1936 they started this building and Will had already died and they decided to name it for him."It's a piece of history that's been around for more than 100 years and sits on the south side of the building at the Claremore Museum of History. "I think it’s offensive to me that someone would think that a cornerstone would be so hate-filled you’d have to remove it," Reeder said. The symbol on top of the cornerstone is under fire. “For Native Americans, it was very much life, earth and sun that’s what it meant to them," Reeder said.Reeder remembers it as a patch on soldiers uniforms of the 45th division in World War I, who were mostly from Oklahoma. “I couldn’t find anything that called it a name," she said. "I think it was given the name when Hitler decided he needed a symbol.” Reverend Mareo Johnson, a Black Lives Matter activist in Tulsa, Oklahoma, wants the cornerstone removed. “When you see it now it’s a public representation of hate and regardless of what it meant then it’s how people see it now," he said. Reverend Johnson says the meaning has changed overtime and wants any sign of hate removed. “The swastika sign is the main point and everything else is fine it’s that symbol that is connected to hate," he said. He wants the country to move forward. “I don’t believe that it will be too hard of a process because it’s very understandable," Rev. Customers of Comcast’s Xfinity internet service in many states may find that they will be charged if they use a lot of internet at home.The news comes as many Americans are working, schooling and using the internet to watch TV programs through the internet.Comcast will begin limiting many customers to 1.2 terabytes of internet data per month before charging overages. Beginning in December, Comcast says it will begin offering an unlimited plan for customers who plan to use that much data. For most customers who rent a gateway from Comcast, an unlimited plan would cost an additional a month, while most other customers would pay an additional a month. Comcast will implement the plans for customers in the states of CT, DE, MA, MD, ME, NH, NJ, parts of NC, NY, parts of OH, PA, VA, VT, WV, and the District of Columbia.The cap will not apply to the Gigabit Pro tier of service or business internet customers.For those who use more than 1.2 terabytes of data per month, Comcast will charge for every 50 gigabytes of additional data. The overages will be capped at 0 per month.Comcast says it will notify customers when they're nearing their data limit, and will send those notifications at 75%, 90% and 100% usage.Comcast says only 5% of its customers exceed 1.2 terabytes of data per month. Before the pandemic, Comcast suspended caps on internet usage as more Americans began using the internet for work and school.Those who stream TV might be most likely to go over the cap. According to Netflix, one hour of video can use up to 7 gigabytes of data. Someone who streams six hours a day without using any additional internet could use up an entire month’s worth of data. However, Comcast refutes those estimates and says that 1.2 terabytes cover as many as 500 hours of streaming video. CITRUS COUNTY, Florida — A woman was attacked by an alligator on Wednesday while she was swimming in a lake in Citrus County, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission.The FWC says 24-year-old Felicitie Marie Gillette was swimming in Lake Hernando around 1 a.m. when an alligator grabbed her by the left arm and began to drag her underwater. She was reportedly able to fight off the alligator and call 911 for help.Gillette was taken to Ocala Regional Hospital for treatment of her injuries. According to the FWC, she was treated and released. She sustained non-life threatening injuries.The alligator is believed to 5 to 6-feet long.The FWC and the Citrus County Sheriff's Office are working to catch the alligator. A trapper has also been called to the scene.The public beach access to Lake Hernando is closed while a wildlife trapper searches for the alligator.Families who visit the lake say they've seen an alligator swim along the beach's public access area."The alligator was on the hunt," said Dennis Weis. "You could tell by the aggressive movements by the alligator."Dennis Weis shared cell phone video with ABC Action News showing an alligator roaming in the water near the beach, just a few days before the attack. CLEWISTON, Fla. -- An overturned sugarcane truck has caused the closure of southbound lanes of U.S. 27 near Clewiston Wednesday.Florida Highway Patrol reports that the truck overturned Wednesday morning at the intersection of U.S. 27 and Evercane Road, just east of Clewiston.All southbound lanes were closed while crews clean up the approximately 25 tons of sugarcane that spilled onto the roadway.The roadway has since reopened.No injuries are reported. 468
