(KGTV) — U.S. Marines from Camp Pendleton joined troops at the U.S.-Mexico border in San Ysidro Thursday ahead of the potential arrival of a migrant caravan.About 1,100 Marines were deployed in support of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, according to 2nd Lt. Fredrick D. SANTA ANA (CNS) - An Orange County pastor is due in a Santa Ana courtroom Monday on felony charges of molesting seven children ages 5 to 15.John Rodgers McFarland, who has been the head pastor at Orangethorpe United Methodist Church in Fullerton since 2014, was arrested on a warrant Thursday charging him with seven counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor younger than 14 and four counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor 14 to 15 years old.The 56-year-old Fullerton resident is accused of molesting the children between 2003 and 2017, according to the Orange County District Attorney's Office.McFarland, who's being held in the Orange County Jail in lieu of million bail, faces up to 179 years to life in prison if convicted, prosecutors said.RELATED: Pastor arrested by Escondido Police on suspicion of child molestationIn San Diego County, McFarland was arrested and charged in December with molesting a girl younger than 14 in Escondido between 2012 and 2013. SAN MARCOS (CNS) - A motorist was killed in a multi-vehicle crash this morning involving a semi truck on state Route 78 in San Marcos and another motorist suffered major injuries in a rollover crash around four-and-a-half hours later on the opposite side of the highway, authorities said.A semi truck was reportedly disabled around 12:15 a.m. in the left lane of eastbound state Route 78 west of Twin Oaks Valley Road, according to a California Highway Patrol incident log.At 12:55 a.m., someone told dispatchers that a vehicle crashed into the back of the semi truck and the vehicle was totaled.The driver of the Honda CRV that struck the semi truck was killed in the crash, CHP Officer Tommy Doerr said.CHECK 10NEWS TRAFFIC MAPAt 5:35 a.m., a crash between a Ford pickup and two other vehicles on westbound SR-78 west of Twin Oaks Valley Road caused the pickup to overturn and land on its roof, Doerr said. SAN MARCOS (CNS) - Authorities reached out to the public Tuesday for help in identifying and locating a man suspected of starting a vegetation fire near a San Marcos place of worship last week.The blaze happened shortly before 11:55 a.m. on Dec. 10, at 1111 La Moree Road, south of state Route 78, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.The fire burned roughly 100 square feet of vegetation near a Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, but firefighters extinguished the flames before any buildings were damaged, officials said.Investigators determined the fire was intentionally set and nearby surveillance cameras captured video and images of the suspect, described as a white man riding a mountain bike and carrying a brown backpack.
