POINT LOMA, Calif. (KGTV) — Some residents in Point Loma are frustrated that they are being forced to remove their family-owned docks off Shelter Island. The mandate is part of the Port of San Diego's new Port Master Plan. Cameron Driscoll Lilley says her family's dock near Scott St and Bessemer Street is more than just an heirloom, it's significant piece of history in the community."This dock was put in by my great grandfather in 1943, and it was completed in 1944," Lilley said. Since then, her family has shared their dock with the public from sunrise to sunset. The deepest end portion of the pier is locked for safety reasons. She said this is an expensive endeavor but well worth the smiles it provides to visitors. "The insurance, maintenance, the upkeep, and the liability that we are exposed to. But it's worth it because it provides an opportunity for people in this community and beyond to interact with the waterfront in a way that they wouldn't get to do," Lilley said. Lilley said there are people from all over San Diego who enjoy walking on their dock to watch the fish and stingrays swim under their feet. But the Port of San Diego says their dock is not technically docked on their residential land, and because of that, it must come down. "They want to tear out a piece of our historical landscape," Lilley said. According to the California Coastal Commission rules, it cannot allow residential uses on land the agency governs. Lilley's only other choice is to make the dock available for the public 24/7. But she sees that as a safety hazard."The most tragic thing would be if somebody was out on the end and fell and or drowned or got hurt in a boating accident off of the pier," Lilley said.The Master Plan has no mention of hiring lifeguards if it becomes public."I think they are driving an agenda of tourism and revenue and of course San Diego needs that. But I am disappointed that the Port Master Plan hasn't prioritized the residents of this neighborhood," Lilley said. The Port of San Diego is welcoming all comments at their next Community Discussion. Police searched early Thursday for a man who robbed a Nashville area pizza chain at gunpoint.Metro Nashville Police officers were called to the Domino's Pizza on Hamilton Crossing in Antioch at about midnight Thursday.  Two employees told officers they heard the drive-thru bell go off, and saw a Toyota Camry parked a short distance from the window. When one of the employees approached the window, he told officers a man who had been crouching below the window jumped up and pointed a handgun at the worker.Police said the suspect then crawled through the drive-thru window and demanded the workers empty the cash register. He took the cash and left the Domino's through the drive-thru window. The victims told police they saw the suspect get into the white Toyota Camry they saw parked away from the window. Neither Domino's worker was hurt in the robbery. Investigators don't have much in the way of a description of the suspect, as the victims told them he had his face covered with a black and white bandana. Officers at the scene told us there is surveillance video that they are reviewing. Police arrested a limousine company owner's son Wednesday in connection with the weekend crash in Schoharie that killed 20 people, according to the company's lawyer.Nauman Hussain, whose father, Shahed, owns Prestige Limousine Chauffeur Service, was arrested during a traffic stop on Interstate 787, according to New York State Police. Nauman Hussain is an "operator" for Prestige, police said.Charges are pending for Nauman Hussain, the state police said.Officer Kerra Burns, a state police spokeswoman, declined to say whether the arrest was related to the crash, but Lee Kindlon, who is representing Prestige, told CNN it was connected to the Saturday accident.The arrest came as state officials and Kindlon offered conflicting accounts on whether the stretch Ford Excursion should have been on New York's roads when it crashed in Schoharie, killing 20 people.Gov. Andrew Cuomo flatly stated this week that the vehicle failed a state inspection, meaning it shouldn't have been in service, and that the driver did not have a proper license to operate the vehicle. OWEGO, N.Y. — A New York police officer is being hailed a hero after he saved the life of a man trapped for 10 hours in a car with no heat that was buried in snow.According to New York State Police, 58-year-old Kevin Kresen was driving during Wednesday's snowstorm when he ran his car off the road. A short time later, Kresen became trapped when a snowplow covered his car with four feet of snow. 404

PINE VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) - A woman was taken into custody in East San Diego County on suspicion of smuggling methamphetamine with her 6-year-old son in her car, U.S. Border Patrol Agents said Wednesday. The arrest happened about 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Interstate 8 checkpoint in Pine Valley. Agents pulled over the 25-year-old woman who was driving a 1999 Ford Expedition. A K-9 alerted agents to the SUV’s rear door, where they found 65 bundles of crystal meth in the rear spare tire, officials said. The woman, a Mexican national, was arrested. Her son is now in the care of Child Protective Services. Agents said the drugs had a street value of 9,352. 666
