SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego has experienced one of its best whale watching seasons this year, thanks in part to plentiful amounts of food along the coast.As winter and spring gray whale watching die down, the summer season will bloom, giving way to Blue Whales feeding off our coast. Gray whale season typically takes places from mid-December to April, while blue whale season is around mid-June to September.So naturally, many residents and tourists will flock to the sea and coastline as whales flock to our waters for food. And if you're going by sea, Biagini says a little research can go a long way in finding a great experience.Here's some tips on how to best view natures gentle giants in San Diego, either by land or sea.By landWhile whale watching from the shore won't get viewers close to the animals, it is a cheaper alternative that can be just as fun.Cabrillo National Monument, Torrey Pines Glider Port, Sunset Cliffs, and Fletcher's Cove in Solana Beach are great spots to watch for sprouts of whales from shore, according to Biagini.At Cabrillo, viewers can head to Whale Overlook or the Old Point Loma Lighthouse to lookout for whales. In Torrey Pines, Sunset Cliffs, and Solana Beach, onlookers have a full coastline of areas to peer from.San Diego's Tourism Board also adds Birch Aquarium at Scripps as a prime viewing area.And a tip to remember: During the winter and spring seasons gray whales tend to feed closer to San Diego's shore than blue whales, Biagini says.By seaOne benefit of heading out on the water to whale watch, aside from getting closer, is having San Diego's skyline in the background. County officials say it’s important to be prepared because topsoil, mud, plant material, and debris can clog culverts and storm drains and damage roadways. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Real estate company Zillow launched a new service in San Diego Monday that gives homeowners another option for selling their property.The service, called Zillow Offers, will present a cash offer to homeowners who want to sell their home as-is, without the need for open houses or renovations.This is the second market in California that Zillow has offered the service. In the last quarter, Zillow charged an average fee of 7.5% on transactions in the cities it currently operates.“Are they going to get top dollar? No, they are not,” said Mark Goldman, a loan officer and a former real estate professor.On the flip side, Goldman realizes the advantage comes in the form of convenience.“What they are getting is turning the house into cash very quickly and with the least amount of hassle,” said Goldman.In San Diego, realtor Kyle Whissel will be working with Zillow on the ground to act as Zillow’s buying agent as well as their selling agent once the home is market-ready.“We’ll give [Zillow] our opinion of value, they’ll punch that into their algorithm and that will spit it out a price to the homeowner,” Whissel said.The homeowner will then decide if they want to sell at that price, after which they can set a close date within as little as 5 days.“Zillows goal is to come in at market value, make a little bit of improvements, similar to improvements someone would make to put their home on the market,” said Whissel. “Once those are made, we’ll put it back on market at the new market value.” 1527

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – San Diego County Supervisor Nathan Fletcher and other local health and community leaders urged San Diegans to put their focus on the fight against the coronavirus instead of the restrictions placed on businesses due to the pandemic.During a Monday morning press conference, Fletcher specifically called out fellow Supervisors Jim Desmond and Kristin Gaspar, who have been pushing for reopenings.“In particular Supervisors Jim Desmond and Kristen Gaspar are inciting a fight between government and small business. They’re exploiting the pain and suffering that small businesses are going through as a result of a global pandemic as a wedge for political gain. It is reckless and irresponsible leadership,” Fletcher said.Fletcher’s comments come as San Diego County inches towards the possibility of moving from the red tier into California’s most restrictive purple tier.In response to Fletcher’s remarks, Gaspar issued this statement:“This morning Supervisor Fletcher held a hellfire and brimstone press conference in which he ironically and incorrectly blamed me for playing politics with COVID. Let me set the record straight: I have never supported any approach to re-opening that was not specifically supported by our Public Health Officer and clinical leadership team. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police Homicide investigators and Crime Stoppers asked for the public’s help Thursday to solve the mystery of an unidentified boy whose skeletal remains were found on a Rancho Bernardo hiking trail in 2004.Two hikers found the 2 to 4-year-old boy, called “Baby Doe” by police.  Forensic testing showed the boy was born between 1999 and 2001, and had features “consistent with being mostly Caucasian”, according to investigators. The boy also had light to medium brown hair.Police said isotopic testing indicates the boy was born on the mainland United States. His mother likely lived in the southeastern part of the country for part of her pregnancy and the first year of the boy’s life before they moved west, investigators said.Anyone with information is asked to call Lt.
