SUNSET CLIFFS, Calif., (KGTV) - There are mounting concerns about the stability of the some of the bluffs at Sunset Cliffs. The City of San Diego was tipped off about the cliff collapse near Hill Street last week. City crews surveyed the collapse then cordoned it off with yellow caution tape to discourage people from getting to close to the section in question. The city says the collapses are likely from rain. “There is a big crack there right up against the edge where it looks like that’s the next piece that’s going to fall,” said photographer Jim Grant, “it’s a good thing that somebody came in and put some protection up.” Grant spends nearly everyday photographing the cliffs and says he has seen his fair share of people getting too close. “They don’t realize that one slip and when you fall 60 or 70 feet, it leaves a permanent mark that’s for sure,” added Grant. Officials urge people to avoid the section that has collapsed and to always use caution when traversing through Sunset Cliffs. The city says it will have its engineers evaluate the section after this weekend’s weather before determining what steps to take next. 1145

"Hey guys. I'm really nervous to post this. Please help if you can and pray for my family. I'm sorry I never said anything sooner and that I'm suddenly asking for help. I love you guys so much," she wrote in a message she posted with the tweet.She added, "I'm grateful to Taylor for keeping me afloat through it all."Swift made the donation to the online platform over the weekend with the message, "Love, Taylor, Meredith and Olivia Swift." Meredith and Olivia are her two cats.Bartell took to Twitter after Swift's donation and posted a message in disbelief. And between the shipping delays and the call to stay at home this holiday season, the ways people can gift -- especially last minute -- are limited.AAA predicts that 34 million fewer Americans are travelling this holiday season compared to last year.“People are realizing or have realized over the last month that they had to change how they approach the holiday season,” Darrin Duber-Smith, a consumer behavior expert and professor at Metropolitan State University of Denver, said.Part of that is thanks to e-commerce. The IBM U.S. retail index shoes the pandemic has accelerated the move toward online shopping by five years.The National Retail Federation predicts that 60 percent of holiday shopping with be done online this year, up from 56 percent in 2019.“Our buying patterns have shifted almost entirely online over the last 9 months,” Duber-Smith said. “So many more goods and services are now available online. So many more than even a year ago, so I think consumers have a lot more choices that they can send.”However, the flower bouquets and gift cards can seem impersonal.“I really think all bets are off during the pandemic, but there’s going to be lasting effects in consumer attitude and behavior going forward,” he said. “Getting a gift basket that may or may not have a holiday greeting on it is becoming the norm.”“It’s an hour of work to send someone a gift,” Edward Lando, co-founder of Goody Technologies, said. “If you think about it, you need someone’s address. Students and staffs of schools across the United States walked out of buildings and protested at statehouses in support of victims of gun violence, and seeking legislation aimed at making public spaces safer.The National School Walkout was organized by the Women's March youth branch, called EMPOWER. Walkouts occurred at schools at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 14 in every time zone.Walkouts took place one month after a mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida that claimed 17 lives. The 29th named tropical system of the Atlantic hurricane season formed on Monday, marking a new yearly record for the basin.Subtropical Storm Theta formed over the open waters of the eastern Atlantic Monday evening, packing top winds of 50 mph. The storm is far from any land, and does not pose any immediate threat to land.Theta marks the deepest jaunt down the Greek hurricane naming list. Theta is the seventh storm this season named after a letter in the Greek alphabet. The only other time the Greek alphabet has been used was in 2005.Theta is not the only storm churning in the Atlantic basin. Tropical Storm Eta is spinning in the Gulf of Mexico after striking the Florida Keys yesterday. The slow-moving system is expected to dump heavy rain over Florida over the next few days.
