SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego County's unadjusted unemployment rate fell in September with multiple industries in the county showing employment increases, the California Employment Development Department announced Friday.San Diego County's overall unemployment rate fell two-10ths of a percent from 3.6 percent in August to 3.4 percent in September. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Temperatures throughout San Diego County will warm slightly each day leading up to the arrival of a heat wave for Labor Day weekend, according to the National Weather Service.The agency issued an excessive heat watch that will be in effect from Friday morning through Monday evening in the western valleys, the mountains and the deserts. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The local U.S. Attorney's Office announced Monday that one of its prosecutors will oversee efforts to handle complaints of voting rights abuses and election fraud in the Southern District of California, which includes San Diego County.Assistant U. S. Attorney Christopher P. Tenorio has been appointed to serve as the District Election Officer for the region. Tenorio will oversee local reports of potential election fraud and voting rights violations through Election Day, in consultation with Justice Department headquarters in Washington, D.C."Every citizen must be able to vote without interference or discrimination," U.S. Attorney Robert Brewer said. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Power outages left tens of thousands of homes and businesses across San Diego without electrical service Tuesday.The first of the two blackouts began for unknown reasons about 11:15 a.m., affecting Fort Rosecrans, Lindbergh Field, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, the Midway area, Mission Bay, Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach, Point Loma and Sunset Cliffs, according to San Diego Gas & Electric.In all, the outage left about 13,000 utility customers without electricity, SDG&E reported.Repair crews had power restored to all the affected areas as of 12:30 p.m., according to the utility company.About 90 minutes later, another outage took place to the east, knocking out electrical service to roughly 8,300 addresses in Balboa Park, Center City, Chollas Creek, City Heights, Golden Hill, Normal Heights, North Park, Oak Park and University Heights, SDG&E reported.The utility predicted restoration of power to those neighborhoods by late afternoon. 976

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego County public health officials Sunday reported 373 new cases of COVID-19 and no new deaths, bringing the county's totals to 52,355 and the death toll remaining at 853.Officials are imploring San Diegans to maintain vigilance as positive case rates for the coronavirus continue to increase in the region."We are now concerned about the trends and we are concerned about the likelihood we could tip back to purple, Supervisor Nathan Fletcher said on Twitter today.
