BRADENTON, Fla. — Deputies in Manatee County, Florida are conducting a homicide investigation after finding the body of a blind woman on fire in a wooded area.When officials responded to the call, they found that the victim was already dead.The victim was identified as 50-year-old Veronica Polite of Bradenton.An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death, but as of now the case is being treated as a homicide.Anyone with information is asked to call Manatee County Sheriff's Office at 941-747-3011 or Crime Stoppers. 547

BORREGO SPRINGS, Calif. (KGTV) - A helicopter made a hard landing in the Anza-Borrego desert about three miles east of Borrego Springs in East San Diego County Monday, deputies said.Four people were on board the Robinson R-44 helicopter when it went down about 1:30 p.m., according to the San Diego Sheriff’s Office.Three people were treated at the scene, according to The Borrego Sun. Deputies said they had minor injuries.The helicopter is registered to Big Blue Corp of Las Vegas. 10News is working to confirm that it may have been operated by Big Blue Air, a tour company based in Palm Springs. A company representative had no immediate comment on the landing.Borrego Springs Airport officials said the male pilot was on the way to the Rams Hill Country Club in Borrego Springs.The helicopter landed in rough terrain near Inspiration Wash, officials said. The area is accessible to 4WD vehicles via dirt track. Temperatures are in the high 70s.The FAA and NTSB will investigate the landing. 1022

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. -  A Green Country, Oklahoma couple got the opportunity of a lifetime, a free wedding from perfect strangers planned in a day."It's all because of God that all of this has happened," said Willow Creek Mansion owner Cortney Gertner.The sun set outside the Broken Arrow mansion Wednesday evening, but the excitement inside was rising. "I didn't think we would find a bride and groom," said Poppy's Garden owner Meagan Ferren.This all started with her leftover flowers from a photo shoot a few days before."She was going to throw all of the flowers away and I was like, you can't just throw all of those beautiful flowers away," Gertner said."I was like, I know it's going to make me absolutely sick to my stomach," Ferren said.But Ferren had an idea."Then she was like, no we should find somebody that wants to get married in the next day or two and I said, seriously? And she was like, yea, you should post something about that."Gertner put the post on the mansion's Facebook page offering a free wedding in just two days."Whenever I went to my Facebook app It was the first thing I'd seen," said bride Karissa Alexander, who said she thought it was hilarious."I sent it to him as a joke.""She kind of sent it to me laughing, you know. (KGTV) — Local officials will break ground on the county's first "bike skills" park at Sweetwater Summit Regional Park Thursday.Officials said the park will feature a bike jump track with four lines for beginners to experts, a kids' pump track, and a skills zone for riders to test themselves."There's a very strong biking community and it really fits right in with what we're trying to do at the County of San Diego to encourage people to live well and thrive," County Supervisor Greg Cox said.
