OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - Trains passing through southern Orange County were delayed Monday night causing headaches for thousands of travelers.According to Amtrak, a train became stalled on the track between Oceanside and San Clemente “due to mechanical issues.”The Metrolink Twitter account said train 609 that was disabled.The Pacific Surfliner Twitter account said train 583 was also having mechanical issues. The delays resulted in the cancellation of train 590.Metrolink wrote on Twitter that they canceled OC Line 603 to LA Union Station Tuesday morning because of the issues with train 609.Metrolink offered busses from Laguna Niguel down to Oceanside, but one traveler who was stranded at the San Juan Capistrano station told 10News that Amtrak did not offer any busses to complete the trip. Joe Cunningham, D-SC, might not be leaving the US House the way he wanted to, but he certainly was going to make the best out of his November election defeat.Giving a farewell speech on the floor of the House on Thursday, Cunningham pulled out a can of beer from his jacket and opened it. Cunningham was toasting bipartisanship during his address on the floor."For the betterment of this country, we have to come together. ORLANDO, Fla. — A portion of the Florida Turnpike closed on Tuesday afternoon as semi-trucks line underneath the overpass in an effort to save a suicidal man. The Florida Highway Patrol shared an image at 1:40 p.m. local time on Tuesday of at least seven semi-trucks lined up underneath the overpass as a man hung over the side of a fence. The image also shows a group of officers talking to the man. According to FHP, the Florida Turnpike was closed in both directions near Kirkman Road in Orlando. OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — A 6-year-old girl was struck in the head by what police say was a celebratory gunfire bullet during New Year's Eve parties in Northern California.The East Bay Times reports the child, who has not been identified, is in stable condition at a hospital Tuesday.Police say the girl was shot sometime before 2 a.m. during a family party in her East Oakland backyard.Investigators say the bullet was apparently fired into the air from another location nearby. Detectives are trying to track down the shooter.The newspaper says a family member drove the girl to a hospital. 597
