SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Three people were injured following a pursuit in Otay Mesa Monday afternoon.According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, deputies pulled the truck over around 2 p.m. for an unspecified traffic infraction.The driver, later identified as Christian Eduardo Saldana Medina, 26, stopped and cooperated with deputies.While deputies were checking records, Medina sped away at a “high rate of speed.” Deputies chased Medina for less than two miles before the truck ran into a tractor trailer at the corner of Pacific Rim Court and Camino Maquiladora.All three people inside the truck at the time of the crash were taken to the hospital, one by helicopter.Medina was arrested for felony evading and felony evading with injuries. A passenger, Edgar Quintana Valenzuela, 38, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.  895

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego County Medical Examiner's office released new details about the two victims, an 80-year-old man and his 9-year-old granddaughter, that were killed in a early Monday morning La Jolla house fire.Angie Keefe, her 11-year-old sister, and their father were spending the night at their grandfather's house Sunday. The girls and their grandfather were sleeping upstairs at the home on 548 Caminito La Paz, near La Jolla Parkway.The children's father told police he was "downstairs smoking by the fireplace while the decedent was asleep in his upstairs bedroom and his granddaughters were asleep in another upstairs bedroom," the county medical examiner's office said.The children's father told investigators that he poured kerosene on a t-shirt and burned it in the fireplace then fell asleep. The father said he was awoken at around 3:40 a.m. Monday when the fire spread to the living room. A neighbor called police five minutes later while the father tried putting out the fire.With the home engulfed in flames, he ran to the back of the house and yelled for the siblings to jump from the second floor. The older sister jumped into her father's arms but his 9 year-old daughter, who had autism and was non-verbal, remained in her bed.It took crews hours to put out the blaze which destroyed the home."Firemen located the remains of the decedent next to his bed and found his 9 year-old granddaughter in her bed, amongst the debris after the fire had been contained," the county medical examiner's office said. "They were both pronounced dead at the scene."The children's father suffered unspecified burn-related injuries and was taken to the hospital. The injured man's daughter accompanied him to the hospital, but there is no word on if she sustained any injuries.The county medical examiner's office said Robert Keefe and his granddaughter suffered "thermal injuries with inhalation of products of combustion." The office lists their manner of death an accident.The San Diego Police Department is handling the investigation. 2065

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The ridesharing company, Lyft, is donating hundreds of thousands of dollars in ride credits to immigration groups throughout the country, including one in San Diego County. The company made the donation announcement on Monday, donating 0,000, calling the campaign "America is an Idea, Not a Geography." The Minority Humanitarian Foundation in Spring Valley received roughly ,000 in ride credits. The foundation's founder, Mark Lane, says the company's donation is a game changer for his organization. Lane explains that the money previously spent on rides can now go towards other things like food, clothing and other supplies. 10News spoke to multiple Lyft drivers in San Diego who said they wouldn't mind providing rides to migrants, as long as their pay didn't change. A few Lyft users told 10News they don't agree with Lyft's donation but said they would still continue to use the service.During the month of July, Lyft is also matching donations to RAICES up to ,000. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Thousands of people visited Seaport Village Saturday to watch outdoor entertainers at the 14th Annual Busker Fest 2020. As the fear of coronavirus spreads, attendees of the festival seemed unbothered by it.Gather around! Let your eyes and ears feast on the marvels of jugglers, daredevils, and aerialists."Buskers have always been a big part of our history down at Seaport Village," Scott Andrews, Marketing Director of Seaport Village, said. Coming to the festival has become a seven-year tradition for Shannon Steward and her nine-year-old son, Aiden. "I like supporting the street performers!" Stewart said. "I never even knew what a busker was until I found out about this festival."New this year: Busker University. It's a special place where kids can learn about art and busking skills. One of the most popular booths is the slime station. Children can make slime by mixing Borax, water, and glue. After playing at the slime station, the kids are encouraged to wash their hands by using either baby wipes or hand sanitizer.Ahead of the event, San Diego Port Authority added hand-washing stations all along the Embarcadero, to quell growing fears of the coronavirus. Regardless, Stewart said good hygiene is something she always preaches to her family. "We are making sure we are washing our hands, not touching too many things, but obviously, we are kind of diving into the slime and no big deal!" Stewart said. She said she is not going to let fear and hysteria ruin their fun."It's at the forefront of our minds, but it's not changing too much of what we are doing right now," Stewart said. "Now, that may change in a couple of weeks.
