SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - New numbers show just how quickly housing has become unaffordable in San Diego county.Housing received a thumbs-down because the Housing Affordability Index for San Diego County decreased from 26% in December 2017 to 24% in December 2018. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are searching for a suspect Tuesday they say threatened a woman with a gun in an hotel bathroom. According to police, the incident happened in a bathroom at the Hilton on the 4200 block of Taylor Street in Old Town.Police say the man threatened the woman with a semi-automatic gun.Initially a man who matched that description was detained after a short foot chase. Police say he ran for unknown reasons but was quickly released when they determined he was not the attacker.Authorities describe the suspect as a black man in his mid-20s who is five feet, eight inches tall, was wearing a gray shirt, tan pants, a light colored backpack and has short hair.The suspect is wanted for brandishing a weapon, battery and assault with the attempt to commit a sexual offense. 806

"We just can't wait until the exhibit gets going, as well as the theater. We've missed everyone so much."The Fleet Science Center is a hands-on museum, and because of that, major safety precautions will be in place. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - More local employees are losing their employer health insurance benefits during the COVID-19 crisis.10News was contacted about employees at the San Marcos Veterinary Clinic who were apparently working just as many hours but their medical benefits have been dropped.10News spoke to the owner of the clinic on Thursday who said she was forced to make the tough and emotional call to drop her 13 employees' health benefits, including her own, in order to keep them on the payroll and keep the clinic’s lights on during the pandemic. She said the decision was made out of desperation. Not greed.On Thursday, 10News interviewed Anthony Wright with Health Access California, a consumer advocacy group. “A stay in the hospital for say seven or ten days on a ventilator, which is the treatment for having a severe case of this virus, could be in the tens of thousands of dollars if you're not covered” he told 10News.So, what if you lose your coverage during the pandemic? Wright told 10News that Californians can try COBRA, which temporarily extends your same employer-based health plan, but there’s a downside. “That's a very expensive option for most people,” he added.Wright said a better option could be Covered California, the state's health insurance marketplace that allows individuals to buy coverage at federally subsidized rates.Covered California’s open enrollment period has been extended through June, amid concerns over the virus. “How much Covered California costs is very much dependent on your current income. It's a percentage of your income on a sliding scale,” he said. Danny Murphy is the Deputy Commissioner of Compliance for the Baltimore Police Department, which underwent sweeping reforms following public outrage over the 2015 death of Freddie Gray.“After the Freddie Gray incident, the Department of Justice launched an investigation into the Baltimore Police Department and found a pattern or practice of unconstitutional policing,” Murphy told 10News.RELATED:San Diego Police to implement new de-escalation policyReview board recommends de-escalation reforms to San Diego PoliceThe Baltimore Police Department's new policy requires that the use-of-force not only be reasonable but also necessary and proportional to the situation.
