DENVER – Zillow wants to buy your home from you directly — and they’re offering cash. The real estate listing site on Monday added Denver to the list of markets where homeowners can get cash offers directly from Zillow instead of listing their home for sale and soliciting offers from buyers. Zillow Offers also is available in Phoenix, Las Vegas and Atlanta.A seller can request a free offer from Zillow through Zillow Offers and then once the site makes an offer, the seller can choose their own closing date. Zillow then arranges a home evaluation to finalize the offer and prepares the home for resale.“We are so excited to bring Zillow Offers to Denver-area homeowners and empower them with more control in one of the largest financial transactions of their life,” said Zillow Brand President Jeremy Wacksman. “The Denver housing market is changing quickly, and many homeowners are trying to time the sale of their home with the purchase of a new one. Rising inventory can make the timing of a sale more uncertain, making Zillow Offers even more desirable. Zillow Offers aims to alleviate some of that stress, giving sellers the ability to customize their selling experience, and we can’t wait to get started today in Denver.”For more information on how the program works, log on to Zillow.com/instant-offers. 1331

DEL MAR, CA (KGTV) -- From the starting line to the finish line, opening day to the final race of the season, the Del Mar racetrack prides itself on injury-free races. And with the Summer 2020 season having just wrapped up, the track was ranked as the safest racetrack in the country for the third straight year."It didn't come easily," says Del Mar Thoroughbred Club President Joe Harper. "A few years ago we just woke up to the fact that these horse injuries were climbing, and we had to figure out what was going on."So four years ago, they decided to make some changes. All in the hopes of making the sport safer for the horses, and the jockeys. And it all started with dissecting the track."We found the best guy in the world, the best dirt guy there is, and it was Dennis Moore. He took the track completely apart and told us there were a few problems. We knew it would cost a lot of money, but I said spend all you want."Joe says they also stepped up the evaluations on every racehorse. And for a summer racing season, that means close to 2,000."We go back through our databases, and find what this horses have been doing, where they have been, and how they have been training."The track has also increased the number of veterinarians at the track."In the morning during workouts we've hired more vets to come in and watch the horses. We also have veterinarians go in and look at the horses in the stalls, and the receiving barns. There are vets everywhere."This past season, they had to euthanize one horse injured in a race, as well as two other horses injured while training. "What we're really looking for is zero but compared to where we were, and compared to other tracks, for the last three years we've been the safest track in North America." 1767

DEL MAR, Calif. (KGTV) - Holiday travelers hit a snag getting home from San Diego when all trains from Downtown to Oceanside were canceled Saturday while crews worked to reinforce a Del Mar cliff-side after it collapsed Friday.Sky10 flew over the affected area Friday, capturing a portion of cliff-side hollowed out feet away from train tracks near 13th Street.Amtrak posted a bus bridge was used from 6 a.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Sunday due to "unscheduled track work."This left travelers stressed out and frustrated. 10News saw one woman crying in the Santa Fe Depot, concerned about getting home. Two men were so desperate Saturday afternoon they ordered a Lyft to get to Los Angeles.Crews put in metal plates and back-filled with a concrete slurry, reinforcing the cliff and tracks on top. They were confident it would be a long-time fix."It doesn’t seem like a safe thing, it seems like it should be moved, someone said you can’t stop Mother Nature," passenger Justice Drake said. He was in town from Oceanside, visiting his mother in El Cajon for Thanksgiving."People are frustrated, but I feel like don’t get frustrated with the people at the desk because it’s not their fault," passenger Lauren Cono said at the depot. She was trying to get home to San Francisco."So the plan is right now I think there’s a flight I can get for 0 one way or tomorrow 0 one way... I’m taking the cheaper option so I know there’s going to be complications but there’s not enough options," she said, wishing California had a bullet train. Now she's thinking twice about riding in the future, "I already have a flight booked for Christmas down here because it’s easier, but it’s too bad because I wish we had a better railroad system."Multiple passengers told 10News the trains are sold out for the rest of the weekend so they couldn't get back home before work on Monday. One piece of good news, the work expected to start 6 a.m. and continue until midnight, wrapped up early. Crews left around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, leaving neighbors with a quiet night.Sunday service starting just before 5 a.m. is expected to be on time. 2118

Despite Thanksgiving being days away, avoiding the tunes of Christmas can already be a chore. From retailers playing traditional holiday music to a number of radio stations switching their format for the holidays, the music of the season is already starting to take over. And while many gleefully play Christmas music while there are still leaves on the trees, the music of the Christmas season might not be beneficial to your health. In an interview with Sky News, clinical psychologist Linda Blair said, "Music goes right to our emotions immediately and it bypasses rationality."Much of this, Blair told Sky News, is due to the stresses that come with the holiday season. "It might make us feel that we're trapped - it's a reminder that we have to buy presents, cater for people, organize celebrations," Blair said in the interview. "Some people will react to that by making impulse purchases, which the retailer likes. Others might just walk out of the shop. It's a risk."Dr. Rhonda Freeman has a more balanced approach toward Christmas music. She said in an interview with NBC News that for some, the music is a reminder of the joy of the holiday season."When the brain makes these associations with something very positive and pleasurable, the rewards system is being activated [which triggers] a number of chemicals including dopamine," she told NBC News. But for others, Freeman said, "The reward system can also be associated with pain. For that population, Christmas songs can be very painful to hear.”This can especially be true for those who work in retail, who are forced to hear the music almost every day for hours. So what is your opinion? Is it time to dust off the Christmas CDs and enjoy the sounds of the season, or would you prefer to wait? 1803
