SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The family of a man killed in 2013 is pleading with the community for new leads as the case has now been left unsolved for more than half a decade.Ralph Green was killed on October 20, 2013.  He was murdered on Jewell Street in the Mountain View neighborhood, on the porch of his daughter’s home while at her 32nd birthday party.His daughter, Chanel Green, says the shooting happened suddenly, catching everyone by surprise.“My mother was on her way outside, so it was a blessing I didn't lose both my parents that day,” Chanel said. “I remember (my mother) shrieking, ‘oh my god, Ralph’s been shot.’ And I ran to the door to see my dad walk holding his neck.”Green says he was shot three times, once through this throat.“My brother catches him, and I moved my brother out of the way, and I laid (my father) down on the ground, and I start screaming, “oh my god, my dad’s been shot, call the police,’” she said. “My dad bled out on the floor, and all I could hope was that he heard me when I told him I loved him.” Channel’s aunt, Jennetta Pierce, was also shot.  Pierce is Ralph’s cousin-in-law.Pierce says she was inside the house, by the window, when the bullets started flying. One of them hit her on the lower back.“I got hit, but I didn’t let anyone know I got hit because my kids were there, and I just told them to get up under the table,” Pierce recalled.  After that, emergency crews came inside the house and took her to the hospital, where she spent two weeks.  She says she spent the next five years focused on moving forward.Police have said the shooting was random.  Chanel says there have been tips, and potentially leads given to the police but none have panned out.  But she’s convinced that there are people out there that know something, that can give her and her family the closure they need.“For anybody who knows somebody that knows something to come forward, now is the time, to tell the truth,” Chanel said. Anyone with information can contact San Diego Police or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. 2087

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The county's average price for a gallon of gas eclipsed for the first time since May 22, according to AAA.The average price of regular gas in San Diego spike 9 cents Saturday and has risen 10 of the last 12 days for a total of 35.8 cents, according to AAA.Since last month, the average price is up more than 40 cents.MAP: Click here to find the cheapest gas in your areaIn California, however, the statewide average sits at .95 a gallon. The national average rests substantially lower, at .65 a gallon.The rise in gasoline prices has been attributed to several issues at refineries in California and just weeks after attacks on Saudi Arabia oil fields. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The National Weather Service says that conditions are in place for a La Ni?a weather pattern in the fall and winter of 2020-21. That could bring warmer, drier than usual weather to San Diego over the next few months.By definition, La Ni?a happens when the water along the equator is colder than usual. That pushes the jet stream farther north and directs storms away from the Pacific Southwest region of the United States.Because of that, Southern California typically sees less rain during La Ni?a years."What that means for everyone is that our winters can be variable, meaning they can be all or nothing," explains National Weather Service Meteorologist Alex Tardy. "It doesn't necessarily result in more or less rain, though. You just have a very inconsistent winter in general with a La Ni?a pattern like we're seeing developed now."The numbers bear that out. According to the San Diego County Water Authority, San Diego averages 10.34 inches of rain every year, with most of it falling from December through February.But in La Ni?a years, the rainfall is usually below average. During La Ni?a in 2018, San Diego only saw 3.34 inches. A La Ni?a in 2017 brought 12.73 inches. La Ni?as in 2017 and 2012 got 8.18 and 7.90 inches of rain, respectively."The bulk of the historical cases have been somewhat below average," says Dan Cayan from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. "It's 10 to maybe 30% below what we would normally achieve in those in those core winter months."That's bad news for firefighters across California. Already this year, the state has set records for wildfire disasters, with 7,982 wildfires burning more than 3.6 million acres. A dry, warm fall and winter will prolong wildfire season."That's not a real welcome signal for us here in Southern California, particularly after this extended dry period and heatwaves," says Cayan. "A wetter winter this next year would have been a welcome relief. But the roll of the statistical dice right now does not look like they're in our favor."Tardy puts it more bluntly."We are a tinderbox," he says. "We're looking at fuel moisture that is not just dry the way it should be, but it is record dry."La Ni?a weather also brings more Santa Ana winds, which can help wildfires spread. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Surveillance video from a Clairemont church shows a woman with a gun in one hand and her baby in the other, prosecutors said.The video was played in court Friday as the preliminary hearing started for Anna Conkey.Conkey is accused of walking into Sunday services at Church Tsidkenu in April and making threats while holding her 10-month-old son.Pastor Benjamin Wisan testified Conkey pointed the gun at parishioners and her own baby. Wisan was on stage and tried to calm everyone by telling them the weapon was a Taser. A 911 call prosecutors say Conkey made to report herself was played for the jury."Hi, yes, there's a woman at a church and she's saying she's going to blow up the foundation of the church,” said the person in the 911 call. RELATED: Woman tackled to the ground after showing up at San Diego church with handgunChurchgoers tackled Conkey and held her until officers arrived. The baby was not injured. Police later determined the weapon was not loaded. Wisan said Conkey had disrupted services weeks before the incident. He had tried to set up a meeting with her but it did not happen. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The county's second case of measles this year has been reported, health officials announced Tuesday.The person was fully immunized but came into contact with an 11-month-old San Diego resident who contracted the disease after a recent trip to the Philippines.The second patient may have also exposed the public to measles at two locations, the County of San Diego Health and Human Services said. Those locations are:85? Bakery Café, 3361 Rosecrans Street, on Aug. 15, 16, 17 and 18 from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.Min Sok Chon Korean Restaurant, 4620 Convoy Street, on Aug. 15 from 6:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.Ralph’s, 3011 Alta View Drive, on Aug. 16 from approximately 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.Officials added the case is under investigation and more locations may be identified later.“If you were at any of the locations at the dates and times listed, you should watch for symptoms of measles and call your health care provider if you show any signs of developing the disease,” said Dean Sidelinger, County interim deputy public health officer. “Measles is a very contagious disease that can be easily spread by coughing, sneezing or being in the same room with an infected person.”Measles can develop about seven to 21 days after exposure to the disease. Early symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, and red eyes. A distinctive red rash also appears one to four days after symptoms appear, starting on the face and head then spreads downward and outward. A person is considered contagious four days before the rash appears.Anyone with symptoms is asked to call their doctor’s office before visiting directly.Complications from measles are more common in children younger than 5 and adults 20 years and older, though the risk is higher with children. Complications include diarrhea, ear infections, and pneumonia. In severe instances, death can occur.Since there is no treatment for measles, the best course is generally bed rest, fluids, and fever-control medication.
