INDIANAPOLIS -- A father died Sunday evening from the injuries he sustained while rescuing his 3-year-old daughter from a vehicle after it rolled into a pond on Indianapolis' north side.Divers and rescuers were called to a pond on Fluvia Terrace after 4:30 p.m. local time. Witnesses told police that the father had stopped to talk to someone and left his 3-year-old in the vehicle. The child hit the gear and shifted the car into reverse, rolling it into the pond. The father and another man ran after the vehicle and were able to pull the child out. She was awake and talking to rescuers, according to Rita Reith with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. The child was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The child's father, who could not swim, was submerged in the water for roughly ten minutes. He was pulled out by rescuers and rushed to the hospital without a pulse. He later regained his pulse but was unable to survive his injuries and died just after 11:30 p.m.He was identified as Anthony Burgess Jr., 24. The bystander who helped rescue the child was also taken to the hospital and treated for hypothermia.   1218

In his first comments since the FBI raid on his home and office, Michael Cohen said the FBI agents "were extremely professional, courteous and respectful."The comments contrast with President Donald Trump who complained Monday that agents "broke into the office of one of my personal attorneys.""I am unhappy to have my personal residence and office raided. But I will tell you that members of the FBI that conducted the search and seizure were all extremely professional, courteous and respectful. And I thanked them at the conclusion," Cohen said in a phone conversation on Tuesday with CNN.Asked if he was worried, Cohen said; "I would be lying to you if I told that I am not. Do I need this in my life? No. Do I want to be involved in this? No."The raid was "upsetting to say the least," he added.Cohen did not fault the FBI agents who conducted the raid at his house, office and a hotel where he is temporarily staying.Cohen would not comment further on the raid, but acknowledged the raids and attention have had an impact on his family. He wants the investigation to be over and continues to say everything he did in regards to paying Stormy Daniels for the non-disclosure agreement was perfectly legal. He said that he is very loyal to Trump but after what happened on Monday, he'd rethink how he handled the payments to Daniels because of the impact on his family. 1380

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Tyson Foods says it has fired seven top managers at its largest pork plant after an independent investigation into allegations that they bet on how many workers would test positive for the coronavirus. The company announced Wednesday that the investigation led by former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder revealed troubling behavior that resulted in the firings at the plant in Waterloo, Iowa. “We value our people and expect everyone on the team, especially our leaders, to operate with integrity and care in everything we do,” said Tyson Foods President & CEO Dean Banks said in a press release. “The behaviors exhibited by these individuals do not represent the Tyson core values, which is why we took immediate and appropriate action to get to the truth. Now that the investigation has concluded, we are taking action based on the findings.”Banks traveled to the Waterloo plant on Wednesday to discuss the actions with employees. The names of the employees fired will not be released, the Associated Press reported.According to USA Today, lawyers who are representing the five Tyson workers who died of COVID-19 allege that plant manager Tom Hart organized a "cash buy-in, winner-take-all betting pool" among other managers and supervisors. 1278

In front of Luke Sherlock’s home in Boca Raton, Florida sits a memorial stone for his niece, Gina Rose Montalto, and signs of support for her high school, Marjory Stoneman Douglas. FULL COVERAGE: Parkland school shooting | Cruz seen laughing in jail days after shootingGina was one of 17 people murdered during the Valentine’s Day massacre in Parkland. She was a freshman. “Gov. (Rick) Scott came to Gina’s funeral and spoke with the family before the mass ceremony. He was very sincere about getting some things done to make our schools safer,” Luke said in an interview. The one major piece of legislation missing from the 0 million gun control and school safety bill, he said, is putting assault style weapons in the same category as silencers and sawed off shotguns, which are not legal to purchase. “Some guns are simply too dangerous to be in the public’s hands,” he said. He’s leery, as is Scott, of arming school personnel, which this bill would allow. “This bill does a lot of good things and if we have to live with that provision, I would prefer to have that provision in the bill and take the rest of it,” he said. He is behind raising the age to buy a gun to 21, a three-day waiting period, banning bump stocks, and giving authorities power to take guns away from people who may be a threat. All those items are in the bill. “Right now, there’s a good bill out there. That’s a great start to common sense gun control in this country and I ask that Gov. Scott sign,” he said. Scott will meet with parents Friday before deciding whether or not to sign the gun and school safety measure. Luke and some parents are working with Boca Middle School on creating a community watch-type program for parents to help patrol campus with school resource officers. The parents wouldn’t be armed, but provide and extra set of eyes to help the school resource officers look out for potential threats. 1982
