(KGTV) -- As evacuation orders remain in place, those on the frontlines of the Valley Fire continue to work around the clock -- either battling the fire or helping get animals to safety.The San Diego Humane Society, like fire crews, have been working since the fire erupted. Although their jobs are drastically different, they do have some of the same training.The Humane Society’s Emergency Response Team has been rescuing animals from the path of the flames. The team has helped small pets like cats and dogs, as well as larger farm animals.At one point during a rescue on Sunday, Humane Society teams were forced to turn around as the fire jumped the road in front of them.“It's still scary, you have to understand that fire behavior, you have to understand what's happening when you see it coming down and how far you need to be away from up,” said Lt. Issac Sanchez.Over the weekend, one powerful image showed the firefight's effects on crews. The photo from the Lakeside Fire Protection District shows Engineer Danny Leetch taking a much-needed break after being on the fire's frontlines for 26 straight hours.Ahead of Santa Ana winds, crews are already preparing for what could come.“Discussions are being had as we speak, the plans are being built as we speak, it's just a matter of being ready for when the weather does change,” Sanchez said.Fire officials are asking those in the path of the fire to listen when evacuation orders are issued to avoid having to pull crews for a rescue.“We're taking those resources away from the firefight and nothing could have an impact on our operation than to have to redirect resources that could be engaged in putting out this fire,” Sanchez said. 2341

(CNN) - President Donald Trump declared on Thursday he was considering withdrawing Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents from California as punishment for what he claimed was a "lousy management job" in patrolling illegal immigration."You know what, I'm thinking about doing it," Trump said at a roundtable with state and local officials to address ideas to stop gun violence in the wake of the Parkland school massacre. His comments came after he decried the state of law enforcement in the Golden State."We're getting no help from the state of California. Frankly, if I pulled our people from California, you would have a crime nest like you've never seen in California. All I'd have to do is say 'ICE, Border Patrol, leave California alone,'" he said during a listening session at the White House."You would see crime like nobody has ever seen crime in this country. And yet we get no help from the state of California. They are doing a lousy management job," he went on to say. "They have the highest taxes in the nation. And they don't know what's happening out there. (CNN) -- JPMorgan wants to give people with criminal records a second chance at a good job.The United States is boasting its lowest unemployment rate in nearly 50 years, but that doesn't hold true for people with prior convictions. Enter the largest bank in the country, which said on Monday it wants to level the playing field."When someone cannot get their foot in the door to compete for a job, it is bad for business and bad for communities that need access to economic opportunity," said JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon in a press release.The bank said it wants to broaden its pool of potential employees after already hiring some people with a conviction on their record for entry-level jobs, like transaction processing and account servicing.The United States loses between billion and billion in annual GDP by excluding people who have a criminal record from the workforce, according to the bank. Studies also show that providing education and opportunities also reduces recidivism."Jamie [Dimon] believes, and we believe as a firm, that business has an important role to play in building a more inclusive economy," Heather Higginbottom, president of the newly launched JPMorgan Chase PolicyCenter, told CNN Business.Financial institutions are regulated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation as far as hiring goes. The agency began relaxing the rules last year.JPMorgan has now "banned the box" that asks prospective employees whether they have a criminal record.Barriers to entryBut there are still plenty of employers requiring the disclosure of prior convictions, and that poses a barrier to entry to the job market for people with a criminal background.Because of that, the unemployment rate is much higher for Americans with records than for those without. In fact, it's an estimated 27% for the roughly five million formerly incarcerated people in the country, according to JPMorgan. That is compared with 3.5% for the United States as a whole.A record that is eligible for pardon or to get expunged shouldn't matter for a job applicant, Higginbottom said.But if you robbed a bank, chances are you're still not getting hired by JPMorgan."We're not lowering our hiring standards," Higginbottom said.Last year, 10% of its hires — 2,100 people — had some sort of criminal record, she added. Crimes ranged from disorderly conduct to personal drug possessions and DUI charges.Getting a record expunged can be confusing and the process differs from state to state, Higginbottom said. A study done in Michigan showed that only 6.5% of people eligible for a clean slate actually go through the process of expunging their records. Pennsylvania, Utah and California have passed laws to automate the process. A handful of other states are moving to do the same.JPMorgan said it will be working with community organizations that can help guide people in the process.The bank said it will invest some billion in community organizations in cities including Chicago, Detroit and Nashville to support people with a criminal past. 3046

You can get a low profile," says clinic Marketing Director, Marcell Reyes Vermillion, as he poses for selfies in a bright yellow photo-booth adorned with strings of yellow balls and a yellow shag carpet.The selfie-booth encourages those "cleared for sex" to take a picture for social media."This is a very sex positive message that we're hoping to share with people," said Dr. Susan Little, Professor of Medicine for UC San Diego. "There has been a lot of messaging around disease prevention. And we now have really good drugs, biomedical interventions, to prevent HIV infection among people who are negative. And to prevent transmission among people who are positive." Make no mistake, Dr. Little makes clear the goal is to stop transmission of STDs. Especially HIV among young Hispanic men where cases are still on rise. But Dr. Little says the new approach is to make getting checked an inviting experience, that celebrates health and sex."I think the time as come to let people know they no longer have to worry about disease," says Dr. Little. "We need to try and promote a sex positive, status neutral, sexual health promotion, rather than disease prevention." "Get checked, then you can mate with anyone you want," says Vermillion.
