Spotify confirmed to Billboard Thursday that it will no longer promote R. Kelly's music on its editorial and algorithm-based playlists due to sexual misconduct allegations against the singer.In a statement to Billboard, the streaming service said it would no longer actively promote the singer's music under a new "Hateful Conduct" policy."We don’t censor content because of an artist’s or creator’s behavior, but we want our editorial decisions -- what we choose to program -- to reflect our values. When an artist or creator does something that is especially harmful or hateful, it may affect the ways we work with or support that artist or creator," Spotify's policy states.Spotify users can still access Kelly's music by going directly to his page, and users can still add his music to playlists they curate themselves.Kelly has been accused of sexual assault and statutory rape multiple times over the past 20 years. In 2001, a sex tape emerged that prosecutors alleged featured Kelly and an underaged girl. Kelly was found not guilty on 14 counts of child pornography in 2008 in connection with the tape.A number of women came told BuzzFeed in 2017 that Kelly was "brainwashing" victims into joining a sex "cult." SPRING VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) — A 76-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of intentionally sparking a fire that damaged a portion of an East County strip mall.San Diego Sheriff's deputies were called to a Spring Valley strip mall in the 500 block of Grand Ave. on Tuesday at about 8 p.m. over reports of a possible structure fire.When deputies and fire crews arrived, a woman was found nearby and determined to be a suspect. The woman, identified as Leona Head, is a transient in the Spring Valley area, deputies say.Deputies say Head admitted to starting the fire by trying to extinguish a lit cigar with a bottle of liquid labeled "Clorox." The liquid appeared to be a flammable substance and spread the fire to an electrical box adjacent to a strip mall.The fire spread to the roof of the strip mall before crews with San Miguel and Bonita Sunnyside fire departments were able to put out the fire.The fire damaged the exterior of the building and the electrical box. No injuries were reported.Deputies say Head admitted to setting two other fires ruled as accidental. She was booked into Las Colinas Detention Facility for arson. 1143

Snapchat can't catch a break.Shares of the social media company plunged Wednesday after it changed its app again — only months after a previous redesign that ticked off users.Snap stock was down 7% in midday trading, putting it more than 15% below the price when it went public last year.Last year, Snapchat changed the app to differentiate between a user's personal friends and media superstars that a user follows. Many fans revolted. So did Wall Street.The latest changes appear to backtrack. (KGTV) -- Dozens of people gathered in front of a post office in Solan Beach Tuesday morning with signs in hand, pushing for the protection of the U.S. Postal Service.Tina Zucker, one of the organizers of the rally, said, “I just would like our country to have a postal service that works and to have a government with people who support it and don’t take it into our political realm.”As a succulent grower, Zucker has relied on the postal service for the last 15 years. She said there’s been a noticeable delay in delivery times.This comes as the U.S. Postal Service had announced the removal of hundreds of mail processing machines across the country and warned 46 states it may not be able to process all mail-in ballots in time to be counted for the election.“This has to get handled. You know, it’s America. This is the United States of America. We are bigger and better than the way things are going. And with the pandemic, we have to be able to vote with ballots. We need to be able to mail in our ballots with confidence,” Zucker said.At around the same time the rally was held in front of the location on South Sierra Avenue, the U.S. Postmaster General announced those changes won’t happen until after the election to reassure people that the postal service can handle mail in voting.Organizers said though there weren’t big crowds of people at this rally, they felt it was important to voice out their concerns and let the employees of the postal service know they support them.Susana Arnold, one of the organizers, added, “It’s really about if you see something that’s not right, you say something.” 1640
