NEW YORK, N.Y. – Barnes & Noble has warned its customers of a cybersecurity attack which may have exposed consumer information.The bookstore chain informed its customers of the attack in an email Wednesday night, but said their payment information and other financial data has not been compromised, because it’s encrypted and not accessible.However, the email obtained by CNN and Business Insider says the attack resulted in unauthorized access to company systems that do contain customers’ email addresses, billing and shipping addresses, and telephone numbers.The company says it doesn’t currently have evidence that this data has been exposed, but it cannot be ruled out at this stage in the investigation.The company says it learned of the attack on Saturday, Oct. 10.“We take the security of our IT systems extremely seriously and regret sincerely that this incident has occurred,” wrote Barnes & Noble. “We know also that it is concerning and inconvenient to receive notices such as this. We greatly appreciate your understanding and thank you for being a Barnes & Noble customer.”The news of the cyber-attack comes one day after the business experienced a “systems failure” that caused an outage to NOOK content.A spokesperson for the company told Business Insider that the attack was linked to the problems with NOOK and issues processing orders at its stores. 1388

She organized the protest outside the Southern Division in Nestor Monday night, but she was far outnumbered by residents and business owners who showed up to support the officers and thank them for their service. RELATED:  Protest planned over controversial San Diego Police Department email"You hear words like quota and you get a little nervous, but I don't, and knowing these police officers, I don't believe for a minute that any of this was racially motivated or supposed to be directed at communities of color. I've been a person of color, I've seen things, they're not happening here," said Jason Wells. Williamson and a handful of other people at the protest are upset about an email sent by a police sergeant to the 90 officers at the Southern Division suggesting a reward based program for drug arrests. Team 10 obtained the email from an officer who wished to remain anonymous out of fears for his job.  According to the email, the officer with the most points would be rewarded with the opportunity to work in a specialized unit for up to a month. The goal was to motivate officers, increase experience and target high-crime areas.  It stated the program was being instituted in Southern Division and is strictly voluntary. It also stated that the program runs from March 1 (retroactive) to April 14.Williamson said the fact the whistleblower felt the need to go to the media, not a supervisor, is another red flag."I'm also concerned that no one else stepped forward out of the 90 officers, only one, and I'm concerned about the culture in the department in how they are really an open door policy," said Williamson.  The anonymous officer told Team 10, other officers were concerned but allowed him to speak for them. Protesters also say "quota systems" breed corruption and target low-income neighborhoods with fewer resources to fight drug problems."I'm concerned that incentive-based programs within internally with the police department would cause corruption and the incentive-based program in low-income communities for drug arrests have primarily been discriminatory," said Williamson.  "Policing should not be a game. It's not fun to arrest people if you want to do a quota, do it on something that can't be transferred from one pocket to another during a stop," said another protester. San Diego's new Police Chief David Nisleit told 10News the program was never authorized or carried out. Chief Nisleit said the email was sent by mistake and retracted within days. NEW YORK CITY — Police are looking for two suspects they say attacked a woman who asked them to put on masks in a Brooklyn subway station.Authorities said the assault occurred inside the Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center station last Friday afternoon.According to the NYPD, as a man and a woman were about to get on a station elevator, the 60-year-old victim asked if they could wear a mask if they wanted to ride the elevator with her.According to police, the pair refused. Surveillance video shows the two try to forcefully push past her.When the woman tried to prevent them from getting on the elevator with her, the two suspects hit her repeatedly in the face and body, authorities said. The male and female then fled the scene.Police said the victim suffered bruising to her face and pain to her legs. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she was treated and released.The male suspect is between the ages of 16 and 20 and was last seen wearing a black knit cap, a black coat, gray pants, and a light-colored backpack.The female suspect is also thought to be between the ages of 16 and 20 and was last seen wearing a black-and-white sweater, dark-colored pants, and carrying a black backpack.This story was originally published by Mark Sundstrom on WPIX in New York City. 1285

She was 76.Somerville's manager Paul Hilepo says Somerville died Thursday in New York City of natural causes.A native of Iowa, Somerville moved to New York in the 1970s and most recently appeared onstage in the Broadway production of “To Kill a Mockingbird.”On television, she appeared in “The Big C," “NYPD Blue” and was in films like “Arthur” and was among “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” actors nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award. 617
