A Chick-fil-A employee in Georgia is being credited with saving a boy from getting strangled after the mother reportedly begged for help in the drive thru of the fast food restaurant. Security camera video shows Logan Simmons jumped out of the drive thru window and into the distressed customer's car. He then pulled out a knife and cut the boy's seat belt. "You could see he was turning red and losing pigmentation in his face," Simmons told WSB-TV. "I just jumped out the window and ran straight down to the car."WSB reported that the boy received a call an hour later from the boy's mom thanking him for his actions. Simmons' mother was amazed with her son's quick thinking."I'm amazed he didn't panic," his mother Teri Simmons said. "As his mother, I would have panicked. I'd be running around going 'oh my gosh, what do we do?'" 845

A group of teenagers who filmed themselves coughing near others at a Virginia grocery store prompted a police investigation and prompted the store to discard fresh produce.According to the Purecellville Police Department, two of the juveniles involved in the incident admitted to filming the video, but police determined there was no criminal intent in the incident.Police say the teenagers filmed themselves walking near grocery store patrons and coughing into their sleeves. Initially, grocery store employees thought that the teens were intentionally coughing on produce in the store. The store immediately removed some of the produce, but police later determined that no cutomers or produce were spit on or coughed on directly."We appreciate the store’s swift action in reporting the incident to police and removing any items in question to ensure the health of store patrons and employees," police said.None of the teens have been arrested, and police say they will not release the footage because those involved were minors. In their warning, police urged parents to speak to their children about "why such behavior is wrong, especially given the current situation regarding the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19)." 1230
A controversial mural depicting images of slavery and dead Native Americans at a San Francisco high school will be left in place but covered with solid panels. The San Francisco Unified School District Board of Education voted 4-3 to cover the "Life of Washington" mural at George Washington High School without destroying it.The vote on Tuesday amends a June decision to paint over the mural "unless doing so would result in undue delay," the school district said in a news release. The mural was created in 1935 by Victor Arnautoff and has stirred controversy because of depictions such as enslaved Africans working in cotton fields on George Washington's estate and white settlers stepping over the body of a dead Native American, according to a fact sheet posted on the school district's website."Where we all agree is that the mural depicts the racist history of America, especially in regards to African Americans and Native Americans. It is important that we all share the agreement and acknowledgement of racism, discrimination, and the dehumanizing of people of color and women in American history," SFUSD President Stevon Cook said in a press release. The mural will no longer be on public view at the school but will be digitized so that art historians can access it. 1287
