MILWAUKEE — What was supposed to be a girls trip to Atlanta with a Milwaukee mother and her five daughters turned into a nightmare for the Wenszell family. A man they never met was in the station as they waited for a train to arrive. “This man, agitated, talking to himself mumbling and next thing we know, ran over and pushed my wife she ended up falling onto the track,” said Jerry Wenszell, the husband and father of the family. After Susan Wenszell was pushed her daughter jumped onto the tracks and covered her mother with her body. But that left Katie Wenszell to take the brunt of the train. “Katie jumped down, tried to move Sue off the tracks and just got her in between the tracks and the train literally went over both of the top of them,” Jerry said. The train missed Susan. Katie was hit and dragged. She lost part of her foot, her shoulder was shattered, she punctured a lung and broke most of the bones in her face. “Most said had Katie not jumped down, Sue would have come home in a box,” Jerry said. The man who pushed Susan is now facing charges. But Jerry isn’t angry and relies on his faith. “No, actually I'm not. I actually prayed for the guy,” he said. Katie is now in critical condition after the incident in Atlanta over the weekend. She faces a long road to recovery, including the potential for more surgeries. Jerry says he’s had to stay in Milwaukee to take care of the family’s young children. The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help raise money for Katie's medical expenses.  1595

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Buck McCoy is just one of many survivors from Nashville's Christmas explosion. Friday night he stayed at a friend's house but said he's not sure what's left of his Lofts at 160 home."About 5:30 or so I heard some gunshots - it sounded like four or five, maybe six gunshots. I looked out the window and didn't see anything," said McCoy. That's when he went back to bed, a decision he believes saved his life."Within maybe ten minutes of that a huge explosion, which completely ripped the walls apart of my house, stuff was coming down on me, there was dust everywhere," McCoy said.He got out of bed to find his face and hands bleeding from broken glass and debris. "You know I was looking out the window just ten minutes before the whole explosion, so if I had picked that moment where it exploded to be looking out the window, I feel very lucky on this Christmas to be here. It was that close," he said.McCoy managed to capture cell phone video immediately after the blast as people desperately looked for safety. "I was really thinking that there was some kind of a war going on and that this could be something that I wouldn't get through, that I would not make it through," McCoy said.He eventually walked to a friend's house where he has been staying ever since. McCoy said at one point he did go back home to look for his cat but firemen sent him away. MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. — Tempers flared at a Michigan gym, and the confrontation was caught on camera.It started when Rachel Dixson says she went to get a new membership. After asking for a manager and resolving the situation, her information was violated, and her business attacked.According Dixson, who signed up to work out and at the Planet Fitness on Groesbeck in Mount Clemens, Michigan, while she was tanning the employee that signed her up looked her up on the web, found out she owns a car dealership and started writing negative and vulgar reviews.Video taken inside the Mount Clemens Planet Fitness Thursday shows Dixson confronting an employee.She says it all started much earlier that morning when she went to sign up.“It was my first time in the gym in a couple years, so I was pretty pumped and excited to work out,” says Dixson.But there was a problem. Dixson says the employee helping her wouldn’t let her pay with a debit card or include tanning in the package.She says her husband had paid before with the same card, so she asked for a manager.“(The manager) said no problem,” Dixson says. “They took my payment. He helped me with the tanning. I went in the tanning bed, and I worked out.”While she was doing that though, she says the employee was working on trying to ruin her business's reputation with negative reviews.This is one example:“She says this is absolute worst company in existence,” says Dixson. “You sell **** cars. Everything you do is backwards, and the owner Rachel is a ****ing ***** and I hope you die in one of your **** cars you ****ing c***.”She was able to track down through Google reviews the name of who posted.“I plugged her name on the search bar on Facebook, and I recognized her as the employee who helped me that morning at Planet Fitness,” Dixson says.So she confronted her— cameras rolling.“When I walked in, she was just looking at me, all of those emotions of feeling violated came out,” Dixson says.The employee has a very different story of how this played out.She says Rachel was incredibly rude, so she did post one Google review that was not vulgar, but she knew she was in the wrong and deleted it an hour later.She says she apologized and quit as well but was terrified during that confrontation.Planet Fitness issued the following statement to WXYZ: 2349

Montgomery County, Maryland Police reported Laura Wallen, a pregnant high school teacher who went missing last week, has been found dead. According to Montgomery County Police Chief Tom Manger, Wallen's body was found in a wooded area in Damascus, Maryland. Police have arrested her boyfriend, Tyler Tessier.Tessier was present with Wallen's family during a press conference on Monday. Police had already identified him as a person of interest in the case. Detectives asked the family to invite him to speak as part of the investigation. During the press conference, Tessier pleaded for Wallen to come home."There's so many people, so people that miss you," he said Monday. "There's so many people that were out looking. We haven't slept, we haven't eaten. NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Nashville District Attorney's Office will no longer prosecute those who have been charged for possessing less than half an ounce of marijuana."Marijuana charges do little to promote public health, and even less to promote public safety," District Attorney Glenn Funk said Wednesday in an announcement on the policy change. "Demographic statistics indicate that these charges impact minorities in a disproportionate manner. This policy will eliminate this area of disproportionately in the justice system."View the arrests for marijuana categorized by race here.The DA's office said eliminating minor marijuana charges will lower costs for jail housing, courts and clerk's offices. The resources that would have been used to prosecute those charges will be allocated to supporting victims and prosecuting violent crime.Nashville Mayor John Cooper said in a statement that he supports the change in policy."I support the DA's decision to stop prosecuting minor marijuana offenses in Davidson County. We need to continue working to ensure that people have access to drug treatment and that we are doing everything we can to keep nonviolent young people out of the criminal justice system," Cooper said.Last fall, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation sent a memo to law enforcement across the state that said testing in marijuana cases would "only be performed on felony amounts of plant material and at the District Attorney's request if needed for trial."While the memo did not decriminalize marijuana, defense attorneys said they would be less likely to pursue prosecution for those caught with small amounts of marijuana.The Nashville People's Budget Coalition — a coalition of civil rights groups in the ciry — reacted to Wednesday's policy update, saying Funk's decision could be a beginning of meaningful change, but they want to see more."While the district attorney is attempting to show good effort, we also want to go further," Erica Perry said. "Can you decriminalize and stop prosecuting sex workers? Can you stop prosecuting any amount of drugs? That is important."Funk's decision prompted State Rep. John Stevens, R-Huntingdon, to call for the DA's resignation."A blanket policy to not enforce the law is dereliction of duty and a subversive act akin to treason," Stevens said in a statement, in part. "The determination that marijuana possession is a 'minor; offense is a policy judgment out of the power and authority of the elected District Attorney.
