SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Adam Shacknai testified Monday in the wrongful death civil lawsuit filed by the family of Rebecca Zahau, whose body was found hanging at the Spreckels Mansion in Coronado.The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s office ruled Zahau’s death was a suicide. Zahau’s family believes she was murdered at the home on 1043 Ocean Blvd.Adam Shacknai, the brother of Zahau’s boyfriend Jonah, told investigators he removed Zahau’s body from the balcony about 6:45 a.m. the morning of July 13, 2011.In testimony, Shacknai said he called 911.Investigators found her body on the ground, her hands and feet bound with red rope. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An audit released by the San Diego Police Department Thursday showed they had purged 58 names from their registry of gang members. The names are collected in a database known as CalGang. 42 of the records were cleared because they had passed a 5-year purge mark. Four of the people had died and 12 had been removed due to unrevealed “discretionary” reasons. The results were released at a special joint meeting of the Public Safety and Livable Neighborhoods Committee and the Commission on Gang Prevention and Intervention. At the meeting, Dr. Rodney Hood, the chair of the gang commission also unveiled their annual report. It revealed, as of March 2017, there were 76 documented gangs in San Diego. Overall, it reports there are 3,815 gang members identified in 2017 compared to 4,052 last year. 849
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A woman died after crashing into a tree in Mira Mesa Sunday morning. According to California Highway Patrol, the woman was driving north on I-15 when she veered off the road, striking a tree and a light pole near Carroll Canyon Road around 1:18 a.m. The woman died at the scene, according to CHP. The agency says a man was riding in the passenger seat at the time of the crash. He was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. At this time, it’s unknown if drugs or alcohol may been involved. 524
