EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) — The El Cajon officer who was seriously injured after being dragged by a vehicle has been released from the hospital.Officer Nick Cirello was struck by a vehicle on Dec. 14 in the 100 block of W. Washington Ave. at about 8:30 a.m., after officers responded to a call of a vehicle blocking the roadway with the driver and passenger asleep in the vehicle.When the officers awoke the two, the driver gave identification for someone else. The driver suddenly started the vehicle and started to put it in gear, when one of the officers, Cirello, attempted to stop him. Cirello was dragged for a distance by the vehicle while still partially inside and hit by another vehicle traveling past the incident, police said.RELATED: Suspect wanted after El Cajon officer dragged by car is from well-known Guam familyCirello was ejected from the vehicle and taken to a nearby trauma center was placed in intensive care. He is expected to make a full recovery following his release.Police have identified the suspected driver in the incident as 41-year-old David Francis Cepeda Pangilinan. (KGTV) — El Cajon Police and the NAACP say they are trying to reach out to the family of a man hit and killed by a car last week after family and friends accused police of shooting the man.Police say the protest stemmed from a Nov. 25 traffic fatality involving Stephen Harris, 29, of El Cajon. Harris was hit by a vehicle just before 9 p.m. in the 300 block of West Chase Ave. and died at the scene, according to police.EPD says the driver who hit Harris remained at the scene and tried to provide first aid to him, along with the help of a passenger in the vehicle. Police do not suspect the driver of driving under the influence or speeding at the time of the crash. Witnesses told police Harris suddenly walked into the roadway at the time of the crash, EPD added.Surveillance footage reportedly showed Harris leaving a nearby convenience store and stumbling before the collision, police said. Officials said a toxicology report is being conducted, but police said preliminary testing showed drugs and alcohol in Harris' system at the time of his death.Family and friends of Harris arrived at the scene after the crash and accused police of being involved in Harris' death, saying officers were stalking him, shot him, and were trying to cover it up. During a protest on Nov. 30, family and friends continued their accusations against the department, with some protesters obstructing traffic. EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV)- A man in an El Cajon neighborhood is frustrated after weeks of watching an Amazon delivery driver speed through his neighborhood. The resident, who didn't want to release his name, said, “I mean, there’s been times I've seen them go 10 to15 miles per hour, then I’ve seen them go 20 plus.”The signs in the neighborhood list the speed limit at 5 miles per hour. With the holiday season among us, the delivery traffic is up. "With Amazon, they pull down our street maybe 3 to 4 times a week and I’d say more than half the time they’re speeding," he said.He was able to identify the company affiliation because of the Amazon packages in the car and on the dashboard. The neighbor tried reaching out to Amazon but didn’t like the response he got."The very first thing the lady said to me was, 'do you have proof'.” 10News reached out to Amazon and talked with a representative on the phone. According to California Highway Patrol, the fire sparked around 6:30 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 8 near El Cajon Boulevard.
