Shantel Carrillo, who’s five and a half months pregnant with her second child, had the medical exam Monday at Sharp Grossmont Hospital. She didn’t expect the photograph to go viral. “I didn’t see it; I just posted the original picture online,” said Carrillo. It's more sophisticated than swiping left or right, and it can help anyone looking for a job or career change.It's called My Next Move. The San Diego Workforce Partnership released it after a yearlong effort. The highlight is a 60-question questionnaire that gauges a job seeker's interests. For each task, a job seeker will choose an option from "strongly disagree" to "strongly agree." Examples include investigating the start of a fire, repairing and replacing locks, or examining blood under a microscope.At the end, the system will provide a list of sectors that the best fit the job seeker, including local retraining programs, salary information, top hiring employers, and open jobs. "Think of it like Match.com for careers," said Sarah Burns, the partnership's director of research application. "Once you get a career match, it says okay, well if you want to take the next step in this relationship, then here's what you do."Burns said the system will give each test-taker a percentage matching their interests to the potential career. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A man was taken into custody after he was seen damaging the lobby at the San Diego Police Department’s downtown headquarters.At around 5:30 a.m. Friday, an SDPD officer heard noise coming from inside of the building on 1401 Broadway and saw a man trashing the lobby.Other officers responded, and as they surrounded the lobby from the outside and inside, the man used a large stick or bat to smash glass doors.After some glass broke, officers converged and ordered him to drop the object.Officers deployed less-lethal rounds towards the man and struck him. Once he was on the ground, officers arrested him.Police are reviewing surveillance footage to determine where the man came from and how he ended up inside the building. 751

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A measure on the ballot aims to solve San Diego's homeless and housing crisis by raising property taxes and using the money to build more homes.Measure A would provide the City with 0 million "for the acquisition or improvement of real property" that would be specifically for "vulnerable populations."According to the Measure, that includes low-income families making less than 80% of the median income and the homeless or chronically homeless, seniors, veterans, people who are disabled, and young adults who are coming out of the foster system."It would build as many as 7,500 homes," says Stephen Russell, the President, and CEO of the San Diego Housing Federation. "The trauma of sleeping on the street is ongoing. We believe the first thing you need to do is give someone a safe, secure place to live."Russell says the City could leverage that 0 million to bring in an additional billion in state and federal matching funds.According to the text of Measure A, the money would be paid back over 40 years by gradually raising property taxes. In the first year, homeowners would be taxed an additional .14 per 0,000 of value on their home.
