The death of another Fort Hood soldier is under investigation after he was found unresponsive at a nearby lake.On Friday, July 17 at 12:07 a.m., deputy’s with the Bell County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the area of the Stillhouse Hollow Lake Dam after fishermen in a boat located what they believed to be a body in the water at the base of the dam.Upon arrival, deputy’s found the body 26-year-old Pvt. Mejhor Morta was located in the vicinity of Stillhouse Hollow Lake — located about 15 miles east of the Army base.An autopsy was ordered by Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin.A preliminary autopsy shows the cause of death to be consistent with drowning, but at this time, a full autopsy report has not been completed or released by the Medical Examiner’s Office in Dallas, Texas.Morta's body was found just weeks after officials found the dismembered remains of Pfc. Vanessa Guillen — a soldier stationed on Fort Hood who went missing in April. Officials have not said that the two cases are linked.Morta was from Pensacola, Florida, and entered the Army in September 2019, as a Bradley Fighting Vehicle mechanic. He has been assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, since May 2020.Friends of Morta say his family is from the Philippines."I reached out to his sister today and they are currently in the Philippines," said Hunter Proffitt, a friend of Morta. "He literally came over here, he joined the U.S. Army to help move his family over here. He wanted to move his family. The Broward Sheriff’s Office placed the Baker Act on Cruz. Under Florida's Baker Act, an adult can be held for an involuntary exam for up to 72 hours under the law. The daughter of a hiker who was missing in Zion National Park for nearly two weeks has told CNN that her mother injured her head and became disoriented during the hike.Holly Courtier, 38, was found Sunday after having not been seen since she was dropped off by shuttle on Oct. 6. Courtier's daughter, Kailey Chambers, pleaded with volunteers to help find her mother during the disappearance, saying Courtier was an experienced hiker who would not have gone missing as she did without a reason.In text messages with the cable network, Chambers gave an explanation for what happened to her mother during the two weeks she was missing."She injured her head on a tree," Chambers texted. "She was very disoriented as a result and thankfully ended up near a water source -- a river bed. She thought her best chance of survival was to stay next to a water source."In the texts, Chambers says her mother went without food the entire time she was missing."She was too weak and disoriented (to seek help)," she said. "She was unable to take more than a step or two without collapsing. This prevented her from being able to seek out help. The Environmental Protection Agency has handed documents to Congress that show new travel expenses from agency administrator Scott Pruitt, totaling some ,000 in hotel stays and air travel, The Washington Post reported Tuesday.The documents, which were requested by House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy and obtained by the Post, reportedly show that Pruitt traveled on government business dozens of time on first-class and domestic flights from August 2017 through February 2018.The reported expenses include a four-day, ,631 trip to Morocco in December, a series of first-class flights following Hurriciane Harvey totaling ,330, and a two-day domestic trip for media interviews and a visit to Florida that amounted to ,767. Pruitt's travel expenses listed in the records reportedly do not include the costs of his security team or aides who travel with him.The EPA justified the travel spending as necessary to ensure Pruitt's security."EPA's Protective Service Detail identified specific ongoing threats associated with Administrator Pruitt's travel and shifted his class based on certain security protocols that require him to be near the front of the plane," said Jahan Wilcox, a spokesperson for the agency.Previously, CNN reported that from June through August 2017, the EPA justified several expensive charter flights for Pruitt -- including a ,000 bill for a business trip around his home state.In late August, the EPA inspector general announced it would investigate Pruitt's travel practices.
